Guest guest
Felicia, you've stirred such interesting discussion here in the last few days, thank you for that! You asked: > Have you used evolutionary astrology in your work? Sari: No. I've just read a couple of books a few years ago and psychological approach is not my main priority. And I seldom see clients, I'm more an research oriented astrologer. Felicia wrote: I purchased Parashara's Light 7.0 hoping that I could use the software to help me learn vedic astrology. When I opened the application, it was like looking at an ocean full of potential discoveries, only that the maps are all in Greek, and there are sooo many of them! So many features! I don't know where to begin. Have any of you used the software and have you been happy with it? Sari: I too have Parashara's Light 7 and I used a lot that program a lot when I studied jyotish more deeply. I like it. But nowadays, when my approach is more Western, I look only Vimsottari dasha and sayanadi avasthas (an advanced technique) from it and the rest I look from Solar Fire. But Parashara's Light helps you to look for things that you will learn from jyotish books, for example Indian dignities (that differ from the Western ones), yogas etc. And there is Vedic astrology tutorial, so the program teaches you too. The program contains also classic astrology texts so you get a feeling what classical Indian astrology is like. Best, Sari

Felicia: Sari, I'm glad I stirred some interest in the newbie questions I asked. It seems there is a huge amount of resource and experience in this forum. I consider myself so lucky to be one of the beneficiary! Being a 0 degree tropical Aries, I am used to view myself as a baby (in fact a newborn), always thinking that there is so much for me to learn (how to eat, talk, walk, run, make people smile and pick me up,...) and not afraid to ask. To my pleasant surprise, the universe often respond in kind, giving me just what I need to grow steadily -- very much like the way parents react to a baby. I don't know if this is applicable from the Sidereal side. Does it, Sari? If there is nothing from the sidereal side to support this, I think I will keep the tropical Aries inheritance because this is one thing I like. :-) Seriously, there is an eternal child within me that I cherish. You probably cannot see that with my Saturn in the 4th house signature, which gave me responsibilities very early in life (taking care of 5 younger siblings and being single mom for many years), but from the tropical perspective, I have the Aries stellium in the 5th house of children. Now I see that sidereally, that stellium has moved to the 6th house! Does that mean there is no fun side of me from the Jyotish perspective? As you said, 6th house is seen as very boring in western astrology. Thanks for the lessons, Sari! I'm grasping some, while other pieces I'll still need to chew on for a little bit before digesting them... Does it, Sari? Sari: I would say that could be because of your ascendant ruler Venus is right on your descendant. The 7th house represents everything that's opposite to us, foreign and in that sense also interesting, attractive (like Aries, the sign on your descendant, is to Libra, your ascending sign). So you're kind of throwing yourself to new, unfamiliar situations where you're looking at a foreign landscape. You're this charming Venus that finds herself in a fiery, masculine environment, completely different than to what she's used to. Venus is primarily about having fun (of course it's also about beauty, art, love, romances, etc.). And you have a sanguine, airy ascendant - friendly, human, curious, etc. In fact, now I'm wondering if sidereal Libra as such has anything to do with tropical Scorpio... maybe that it's the exaltation sign of Saturn, that gives some seriousness to it. But actually this is something that I have to think. Both your ascendant and moon are in airy signs, and if we believe ancient Western astrologers (like I usually do), then air is a warm and moist and sanguine element: sensitive, kind, social, getting easily excited, etc. I don't personally think that the latter signs would be more " evolved " or mature than the early signs, someone else may think otherwise. Sari: Using Vehlow houses your Saturn is between the 4th and the 5th houses, slightly more in the 5th house, if the birth time is exact. That might explain the responsibilities regarding children - Saturn is also quite strong being in its own sign Aquarius, therefore strong responsibilities. Jupiter, the ruler of the 3rd equal house cusp of siblings is applying Saturn in sextile, so you've had to take care of your younger siblings. But maybe this fun-loving side and the eternal child could come from Venus that represents you in the chart? Also the Moon in airy Gemini of course, and with Rahu! The Moon and Venus are two planets that aspect your ascendant, so they have a lot to say about your personality, and both are soft and feminine planets by nature. Guest guest
Hi Sari, Thanks for the explanation of how Venus can contribute to my love for learning, stimulation, and fun. Curiously, though, even with a Libra Asc and Venus conj Desc, I am not a social butterfly. In fact, I hate parties and social (only) events, prefering to spend time with friends on a one-on-one basis. I have a few good, close relationships with friends, co-workers, family members, but most of them don't know each other. I just seem to treat my relationships in a compartimentalized way. I can be totally unsociable in group or social situations. My interactions usually serve some purpose other than just being social, usually having something interesting to share, discuss, or to be of comfort to each other, or to learn and help each other. I have a strong feeling that when I walk among the crowd, I am not noticeable at all! However, if there is reason for me and another person to meet up, whether at work, at the store, at the doctor, etc., people tend to find me pleasant and even charming. I read somewhere that it is due to the effect of having Neptune in the first house; sometimes you make a grand impression, other times you are totally invisible. What you said about Venus wanting to have fun through discoveries is so true. Getting to know someone who is different from me is always a stimulating experience for me. From the evolutionary astrology perspective, this is due to the 5th house sun, making romances the thing that energizes me. Here, my teacher explains that it doesn't mean having many romantic liassons. It simply means getting to know someone I met on the plane (male or female) during that one flight. I also have a great love for humour, good, clean, real-life humour. I don't know where that shows up in my chart, but it's another important part of the child within me. Thanks for reading and sharing Sari! Guest guest
I don't think Venus has to do with fun. Mars has more to do with group activities like parties. Mars, 8th house, and the sign Scorpio have to do with group energy. Venus has to do with one on one relationships. ....Bettina _____ On Behalf Of Felicia Hong Tuesday, March 18, 2008 6:15 PM Re: Evolutionary astrology / Parashara's Light Hi Sari, Thanks for the explanation of how Venus can contribute to my love for learning, stimulation, and fun.
