The 11th house

Hi Therese and all,

I've been away from the discussion for a couple of days because we had to

buy a new computer after the old one crashed. Vista... uhh... I don't like

it, but I guess I have to get used to it now.

I've personally come to the conclusion that quadrant houses work better than

any of the equal systems, because equal cusps have so far given quite weak

results in my studies (like for example in the criminal perpetrators study

in my netsite). That's why I've become a sole quadrant user myself.

The totals in the 11th house study were simply determined by calculating how

many planets each group had in each house in total. Let's take 651 people in

art and fashion for example (painters, artists, designers, photographers

etc.). 651 x 7 makes 4557 traditional planets in total, so that's the sample

size. Then you only look how many of those planets are in any of the houses

and compare that with a ten times bigger control group. With artists the

most crowded houses were the 3rd (449 planets compared to 410,8 expected

planets), the 8th (370 planets compared to 336,5 planets) and the 11th (400

planets compared to 383,5 planets), the least crowded were the 6th, the 5th

and the 10th.

What makes this result more significant is that almost the same houses were

emphasized when I studied the house positions of Bonatti's Part of Work with

the same sample, namely the 3rd, the 7th and the 11th (note the triangle).

Only Sripati gave this result. One way to compare different houses systems

is which system gives the most differing and hopefully logical results.

Having the Part of Work in so called Kama houses (3, 7 and 11) is that kind

of logical result. I know that you Therese don't buy this idea about house

triangles, but some other people on this list may do that.

Sripati houses = they are like Porphyry, but the border between two houses

is in the midpoint of their cusps, which are therefore located inside the

houses, not as the beginning points. Another name for this houses system is

" Hindu bhava " . I've become quite convinced of its validity.

People with 12th hs Suns tend to want to be in control, don't know why this

I've noted the same thing, the 12th house is often prominent with

politicians. It doesn't seem the be the " weak, dreamy, Piscean house " , that

tropical astrologers think it is, at all. The tropical sign = house

philosophy has been one of the greatest detriments to astrology IMO. It

really confuses the meanings of the houses.

But the idea of wealth/gains etc coming as undeserved/ not worked for

privilege would contradict that. Is there a way that both these views can

be assimilated?

Sari:

I don't remember how I've got it, but I've been under the impression that

the 2nd house is the house of " natural gains " , and the 11th is the gains

that you get from your work (the 10th house). The 2nd house represents those

things you get just because you've born (the 1st house): food, clothes, the

safety provided by your family, things that you need to stay alive.

We can see from the small 11th house study that groups don't seem to be

connected to the 11th--at least not in the Indian bhava system of houses.

Sari:

Yes indeed, there's no prominent connection to groups. Almost to the

contrary: the group with the biggest emphasis on the 11th house was

adventurers/explorers, and aren't they usually quite original people, " men

who walk their own paths " like with Camel boots (I don't know how the old ad

was in English)? 66 rugby players and 216 soldiers scored quite weakly with

the 11th house and those samples if any should be involved with group

activities.

Therese, I've seen it but I think I didn't probably put it down - what was

the birth time for Princess Diana that Yogi Karve gave? Thanks for

forwarding the link about Yogi Karve and Hillary's birth time.

Coincidentally I've started to look at again at the 20.00 chart for Hillary,

if it's valid, we cannot ignore the Sun right on the MC on her next SR chart

(also Jupiter the Asc ruler is in the 1st).

Best, Sari
