Guest guest
John, I use relocated Solar Returns, and daily angles charts, for the place where one lives. In my view, if the location and time of our birth is of such importance to us (and I believe it is, of course) then our move to another place where we live, work and identify with is also of great importance. I use these relocation-places when a study-subject or client has been there long enough to identify with the place or when life's circumstances (marriage, job, family) take that person there. This has been shown through our personal work (all of us) and through published works as typified by Astro-cartography, now a part of most purchased astrological software. However, I have not explored in depth (only casually) the concept of relocating for one birthday or solar return day. About a year or so ago when I was trying to get a Solunars Study Group going for the NCGR I was contacted by an Italian astrologer who specializes in relocated Solar Returns (for a day, or a vacation) as a means of setting up one's opportunities and environment for the coming year. His name escapes me at the moment --- I'm in Maine at our vacation home --- and I don't have his book handy. The book may have been called Transits to Solar Returns. It is very lengthy. In any case, he uses a sophisticated Italian software program which permits him to easily and quickly relate Tropical Solar Returns to a variety of locations where certain planets and experiences are likely (and where his clients will find nice accomdations). He records what he advises his clients and then records the feedback from those clients, and now has a database that numbers in the many thousands. This is the primary work that he engages in. You have to respect a professional sho is that organized and dedicated to his craft and clients. Another recent book using this short-term relocation approach to S/R charts was done by Jeffery Geist, his book (which I obtained as a pre-published copy) is spiral bound and very extensive. All of his very many charts (using the full arsenal of Fagan's explorations) are collected at the back of the book. This is a bit of a bother when one is reading/studying his text, but it makes writing/formatting easier. In any case, the nature of the book is talking about the nature of the relocation experience as an experience, feelings meditation, and possible redirection. It seems, in spite of its length, to be less involved in explaining the process, the charting, the astrological concepts. I owe him a reply as he wished to have some feedback. At the time, the book was to extensive to read in a short time frame, I was busy with my own book, and I wasn't all that into the relocate-for-a-day approach. I had run a number of charts while writing my book, charts which I didn't use (how many can you stuff into 200+ pages?) but I remember how several relocated charts were so indicative of the subject's life and experiences. Yoko Ono (Tokyo to New York), Katherine Zeta-Jones (Wales to Hollywood to New York where she married Michael Douglas, and then to Bermuda where they now live), Rush Limbaugh (from the Mississippi River to New York to Florida) and the many events in his life which is a one-man-validation of icon-astrology if there ever was one. Perhaps that Italian astrologer's name was Ciro Disperelli or something like that. Amazon.com should be able to locate him. His book was about $30 as I remember, probably available in used format for much less. He had several I-can't-believe-that claims relative to transiting planets in houses and in contact with natal planets, where they were strong and weak, what the houses meant that were quite striking in terms of their going against the current astrological grain. After the book work, I'm going to have to contact him and see just what he uses for a combined astro-business software package. He has lots of books that he has published, it's just that they are in Italian or French, only one or two in English. I use several software packages, primarily Halloran and Riyal32. This latter package is very mathematically sound in terms of providing Sidereal charts. Riyal is freeware offered by Juan Revilla of Costa Rica, one of the best in the field in terms of positional astrology. As I understand it, Solar Fire rounds off many of its progression features for Sidereal charts and is not very accurate. It's one of those packages that offers extensive bells and whistles but the bells are slightly out of tune. This has been relayed to me by others so one has to take these statements with a cautionary note. However, the charts that others have offered to share seem to sustain this reported view. Yet, there have been so many versions of this software package that one has to be cautious as to what one claims. Dave
