Stephen, thanks for the link. That book is in my library. On my web

site http://www.snowcrest.net/sunrise/AANakshatra%20History.htm in an

article on the nakshatras, I wrote about Trivedi's book:

27 Celestial Portals by Prash Trivedi (2004)

" This latest book is extremely comprehensive, which does not necessarily

make it better or more accurate. Material in this book may include most of

the concepts introduced and discussed in earlier texts. The book includes

original paintings for each of the nakshatras. "

--------------------------------

Many particularly enjoy these paintings, and they are one reason the book

has been recommended. The paintings are unique, and a big help in

remembering the mansions.

Interestingly, you wrote that review on my birthday in '08.

On your web site you wrote, " An exception to the newer books is Valerie

Roebuck’s The Circle of Stars (2002). Roebuck was not a member of the

Vedic/Jyotish group in America since England was her home. As a Sanskrit scholar

Roebuck stays faithful to the ancient and traditional Indian sources. Her book

is the first book I recommend to new students of Jyotish so they get a view of

India’s astrology prior to the grafting of new ideas and theories from the 90s

and beyond. " Unfortunately, according to Amazon, Ms. Roebuck's book is " out of

print-limited availability " . So, I may have to make do what can be had.

You can get it from Amazon sellers:

http://www.amazon.com/Circle-Stars-Introduction-Indian-Astrology/dp/1852303034/r\

ef=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 & s=books & qid=1269300016 & sr=1-1

6 used from $3.57. I'd grab one if you can. I still think that book is

great! Diana likes it too. The book comes up in an Amazon search, but has

no photo of the cover. But it's the same book as the other link you

mentioned. (It shouldn't be a separate link.) It's rather important to

compare ancient information about the nakshatras with the modern add-ons in

the newer books.

Thanks, I'm glad I checked my e-mail just then. I found one " used/very good

condition "

for $3.99, before shipping charges. The rest was like $26, $42, and going up. I

wonder if other people on this e-list read your post before I did, and scooped

them up. I got to it just in time, I think.

Great, Stephen! I think that was a " print on demand " book. I hope Valerie

Roebuck sees that more are printed eventually. It's sad how many good

astrology books shine briefly and then disappear. There just aren't enough

buyers.

Valerie used the Fagan-Bradley ayanamsa for some reason, but that's easy to

adjust to Lahiri. It doesn't affect the quality of the book.
