Guest guest
Stephen sent The " How can Pluto be in Sagittarius when it's so close to Antares? " is at the end of every e-mail this person writes. It is a rhetorical question, I think, probably written when Pluto was close to Antares. Isn't Antares the same star as Jyeshta in the Nakshatras? I think the nakshatra, of the same name, is from 16'40 " Scorpio to 0'00 " Sagittarius. So, I am not understanding the 10 deg 01 min (Scor. Lahiri). Stephen liberator_9 ======================================================== My bad! You are right! 9 Sag 55 tropical = 15 Scorp 55 Lahiri The Nakshatra is called " Jyestha " and its determinant star is Antares - But, as you pointed out, Jyestha officially starts at 16'40 Scorpio, which leaves Antares, its original determinant star (15Scorp55 Lahiri) out in the cold (in Anuradha, the previous mansion). This is because siderealists have adopted exact, pre-set lengths for each nakshatra of 13 deg 20 mins, which sometimes means that an original determinant ends up in the wrong mansion. Another place this happens is Ardra, officially (sid) 6 40 Gemini to 20 00 Gemini; its original determinant was Betelgeuze, which is 4 Gemini 45, so again, here, we have a determinant star shut out of its mansion (it's in Mrgasiras now). The sky is not a neat-and-tidy place, and all the efforts to make things nice and even are doomed to failure - but I do understand the desire of astrologers to keep to equal-lengths for both signs and mansions...there's already enough confusion to deal with! I'm hoping my book will be a tool so that astrologers can sort out what is really out there, behind and beyond the symbols on a piece of paper. At least with the Krishnamurti ayanamsa, it gets to the same degree (16.00 exact) >This is because siderealists have adopted exact, pre-set lengths for each >nakshatra of 13 deg 20 mins, >which sometimes means that an original determinant ends up in the wrong >mansion. Right! And then the question is whether we have to re-define some of the mansion meanings. Do the present equal lunar mansions constitute a true (and new) " zodiac " whose segments must now be re-defined to include the stellar groups within their boundaries? Should the old nakshatra meanings apply only to the ancient junction stars?? Ain't astrology fun!! All the new nakshatra books I've seen are STILL listing the old out-of-place stars with today's 27 mansions. Makes me want to scream. Guest guest
That is true that the sky is not a neat and tidy place. Similarily with the Rasis at 30 deg. each, well this is untenable if they literally correspond with the constellations, which are not all the same size. liberator_9 --- On Mon, 3/22/10, Diana K Rosenberg <fixed.stars wrote: Diana K Rosenberg <fixed.stars Pluto/Antares - oops!
