Dear Ash Ji,

From my understanding: D-9 for marriage because 11th house from the 9th is the 7th. So since the spouse is the "dharma-pathi" or "dharma-pathni" we see gain from the division of Dharma hence we look at the D-9. Similarly since the primary purpose of marriage is to beget children and continue to provide opporunity for the lineage to flourish and new souls to incarnate, 11th from the 7th is the 5th, and hence we look at D-7 for children. Similarly we look at D-12 for parents because 11th from the 12th is the 10th house which indicates gains from the father.

D-10 from my understanding is for "Status" and "important works/ deeds". I am not sure if it is for large gains. But either way I dont have an explanation why this theory deviates for D-10. It seems that for D-10, D-2 and D-8 the respective houses are taken, not sure why.

Regards,

-Manoj
