Guest guest
Dear Learned Members,Each and every year we have 100's of major catastrophic events that take place and millions of lives are lost due to these events. Just in the past few years there has been several earthquakes, floods, tsunami, bombing in several places throughout the world.. We can even look at our local, nearby cities and can see mother nature's wrath on humanity. How come astrologers can't predict these such big events that affects so many lives and yet they think they can predict minor or minute small scale events of a individual's life? -Vidya
Guest guest
Vidya ji //How> come astrologers can't predict these such big events that affects so> many lives and yet they think they can predict minor or minute small> scale events of a individual's life?// Who said so ? Are you coming out of consciousness after a paralytic stroke or coma after a long time ? Who said that they can think ???? They dont think but they do. Just read the mails on these forums and then jump to these childish judgments. They are predicting these all the time. You must have met wrong astrologers or must not have paid their Fees which is why you dont have the proper experience. Just like we have a brain surgeon , Orthopadeic, gyno etc. in same manner we have different branches of astrology like, Medical, Mundane, Naral, muhurtha, etc. Do You expect a gynacologist to do your heart surgery or brain operation ? No. In same way do not mix and expect every astrologer to predict everything. If You think that astrologers only think, then you are wasting your time here, as well as ours. Guest guest
It is not a question of whether one can or cannot. It is about the outlook one has, what kind of predictions one tries to do. It is not easy to find people who are willing to spend their time on something that concerns the world, as much people crave to get popular, to earn, to satisfy their ego and curiosity. Like any other profession, astrology is pursued by humans after all. Can you tell me why an astrologer should waste his time on predicting what will happen to the world, what benefit he gets out of it? When we had an indigenous polity, each samsthana used to have state-funded astrologers for such things. By the way if you are really interested, yes some such things are going to happen in the coming couple of years. And there are many people trying to do something about it (knowing very well what is the magnitude of events, what can be and what cannot be averted). Are you posting out of curiosity or with an intent to do something about it? Guest guest
Dear Vidya, Your doubt is very valid and would often come in the minds of people who are in the process of learning astrology as well as in the mind of non-believers of astrology. Have you seen an MBBS doctor who claims that he can treat eyes, heart as well as brain? You wont. Similarly, in astrology there are so many specialization and mundane astrology is one such. Unfortunately, in astrology people don’t specialize in one department which I consider is a sad thing. Everybody wants to do everything and end up knowing little about everything. Mundane astrology is an area where very little research has been done. There is very little material from the classics to go by. There are several difficulties too. For example what is the date of birth of India? Is it the independence day or republic day? What will be the date of birth of Uk which never had independence from a colonial power? What will be the longtitude and latitude of a large country? Isnt it a short cut to take the degree of the capital? So you see there are so many problems and very little research. Many people do predict on it and for me it is like as they say in Malayalam, pottande mangel erru, meaning a dumb person throwing a stone on a mango tree. The stone may hit a mango and it may fall or it may not. Of course, a few have done a wonderful job and we are not very sure of the method used, most probably it could be their intuition at work. //How come astrologers can't predict these such big events that affects so many lives and yet they think they can predict minor or minute small scale events of a individual's life// The two are different and in the case of natal astrology, predicting for individuals, there are number of valid and researched guidelines to go by. Guest guest
They can. It comes in the realm of mundane astrology which is not discussed much in this group. You too can. For eg. Mars is Karaka of Bhoomi and is in longish spell of debilitation. Means good chances of earthquake. Currently aspected by Jupiter so calm but will soon change. So also you can predict heavy rainfall events. But these are general stuff and to pinpoint place and time need to be expert in mundane.Chiranjiv Mehta--- On Thu, 3/12/09, Vidya <vidyakmr wrote: Vidya <vidyakmr Predicting Major World Events Date: Thursday, 3 December, 2009, 8:46 PM Dear Learned Members,Each and every year we have 100's of major catastrophic events that take place and millions of lives are lost due to these events. Guest guest
I would think rulers, politicians etc. of a nation would be concerned enough about their citizens to invest in such things. For me it was both curiosity, and to see what can be done about it. Vidya , ShankaraBharadwaj Khandavalli <shankarabharadwaj wrote: > > It is not a question of whether one can or cannot.
