Guest guest
Prakash This is a part of the four major sankranti's when *ministers* are chosen by the King The King is chosen based on Chaitra sukla pratipada and represents Vishnu Mesha sankranti is Prime Minister, Karka Sankranti is Food Minister, Tula sankranti is Commerce minister ...likt ethis the varesha (day lord) is the planet which gets the portfolio. Transits on that day show the details about how that minister is going to function... see Brihat Samhita and other texts for this. Its related to mundane. In sayana chakra (tropical zodiac) when the Sun starts moving from southern hemisphere upwars towards the northern hemisphere, it turns at tropic. This *latitudinal rising* of Sun is called Uttara-ayana I.e. seeking north latitude. The sidereal chart is based on Narayana who hides behind the solar disk and makara sankranti is the replica of this rising of the Sun/Narayana for the sidereal zodiac. The gods get to wake up and and have their day time which lasts 6 months prakash c Friday, January 15, 2010 1:36 PM vedic astrology [vedic astrology] Makara sankranti and astrology Dear all Makara sankaranthi is considered as one of the important festivals in India, Nepal, Mynamar, Thailand etc. It is the day of beginning of Uttaryan Parva and also considered as the festival of Lord Sun. Guest guest
Dear Prakash ji,First of all remove the basic conception that uttarayana starts on the entry of Sun in SIDEREAL Capricorn. The Sidereal signs havenothing to do with movement of Sun in Ayana. This is the reason thatthese signs are called 'NIRAYANA' ie without Ayan. That is why Makar sankaranti advances on tropical Gregorian calendar at a rateof about one day in 72 years .'UTTRAYAN' AND Daksiyana' are linked with Tropical " Capricorn" and always falls on Dec 21 each year. In the era of Mahabharata , the day on whichboth "EQUINOXES" and "SOLSTICES " fall were considered most auspicious. Some present day astrologers wrongly call that "uttarayan " commences on occurrence of Makar Sankranti. In astrology every thing is not decided based on friend ship and enmity among planets. The sign Capricorn is the 10th sign of natural zodiac ( kalpursha), where Sun becomes 'DIG' bali.Regards,G. K.
