Guest guest
Dear Manoj Ji,Thanks for sharing your opinion & experience.Let me share an incidentThis happened to one of my friend's family. When a horoscope chart of a 17 year old was taken to the astrologer, immediately after seeing the chart he enquired whether upanayanam was done or not. When answered in the negative,he said the chart will see great fortune after upanayanam was done. The family approached the same astrologer for different issue 4 years later. They handed over the chart and before they started their conversation telling their issue, the astrologer interrupted and asked whether upanayanam has been done for this boy.The family replied in negative saying their family practice is to follow the ceremony at the time of the marriage.-Incident shared as told by my friendI have visited this astrologer and he is no mean astrologer. He is popular in Mylapore in Chennai. He used to accept only Dakshina for his services until 2 yrs before and asks the people to leave whatever they wish on the plate kept over the corner. This made me think there is something in the horoscope which makes an astrologer asks to do upanayanam. Thanks and best wishesvishnu--- On Tue, 2/2/10, Manoj Chandran <chandran_manoj wrote:Manoj Chandran <chandran_manojRe: Upanayam as Remedy Date: Tuesday, February 2, 2010, 11:09 PM Dear Vishnu Ji, Upanayanam even for a Brahmin is no remedy. The ceremony itself does not do anything. If the individual religiously practices chanting the Gayathri regularly, that is what helps. Especially when still a Bachelor if the individual practices "Samita-Dhanam" regularly it helps awaken the subtle forces in the Body. Either way, chanting of Gayathri and associated hyms helps with clarity of mind and awakening the Subtle forces in the body. However, the path of the Kundalini is not an easy one. Upanayanam is no magic bullet. Infact there is experience within my family wherein stringent and elaborate chanting of Gayathri has resulted in the awakening of the Subtle forces, which some times makes life more difficult, not easy. What is the basis for advising Upanayanam as Remedy and in which combinations are they advised? Thanks and best wishes Vishnu
Guest guest
Dear Vishnu Ji, Could be, I am not aware of it. Plus I have seen many of my cousins waste away after expensive Upayanayanam ceremonies.
