Dear All, The following article is from: http://www.astrologicalmagazine.com/dec2009/varga_kundali.php Love and regards,Sreenadh===========================Importance Of Varga Kundalies

T.S.VASAN

A divisional chart is called a Phala Kundali. H.R.Sheshadri Iyer did considerable research on divisional chart and has enlightened astrological students and scholars. Varahamihira and Sripati dealt with

Sapthavarga (7 divisional charts), Manthreswara takes Dashavargas (10 divisional charts) while Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra gives Shodashavargas (16 divisional charts). The Tajaka system gives additional vargas like Panchamamsa (D-5), Shastamasa (D-6), Astamamsa (D-8) and Ekadashamsa (D-11).

We generally interpret the rasi chart taking the guide lines from Varahamihira, Parasara, Jaimini, Manthreswara, Satyacharya and others. Similar guide lines hold good for interpreting divisional charts also.

The following rules are to be taken while analyzing the divisional charts. Important planets should not be in dustana from the Ascendant of the divisional chart. The Ascendant lord should be strong and the Ascendant should be occupied by benefic planets. While considering the dustanas, 3rd house is also included

in addition to 6-8-12. There are exceptions to this rule. Kuja in 6th in divisional charts is good; Budha in 8th in D-4 chart is good. Generally Budha in 8th in rasi chakra is good, Saturn in 8th is not bad.Combust and vanquished planets in Graha Yudda will not give good results even in the divisional charts, though they may occupy good houses.Uchha, Vargothama, Swakeshtra and digbala grahas in the divisional charts give good results.Jupiter's aspect is good and debilitated Jupiter may not help.Strong planets in shadbala in good houses in D charts will

give good results. Vimshopaka strength of planets as according to

the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra should also be considered.

Uchastana graha in dusthana is not good.Natural benefics and malefics with their conjunction or aspect will work in divisional charts. However, the same cannot be considered with respect to functional benefics and malefics.Adipathya or lordship of houses is not generally taken into consideration in divisional charts.Neechabanga planets can give good results.Vargothamma postion in divisional charts is good.Yogas in the divisional charts will work and have their implications.Karakagrahas in D-3, D-7, D-12, D-24 are not good in Ascendant of the divisional charts.

Amsa Purushas

Amsa Purushas are those with Ascendant or Ascendant lord or any planet which acquires special powers on the basis of its positions in different divisional charts. They should occupy own house, exaltation

house or the same rasi as occupied in the rasi chart. Planets/Ascendant occupying many good houses in many divisional charts make a person great and called as Amsa Purusha.

Special Amsas formed in Vargas

For easy identification of a planet occupying continuously certain number of good vargas, the sages have given special names to these:

Note: the qualities and greatness of the person is according to the number of good amsa position of planets in Shadvargas and Saptavargas.

For Shadvargas

KimsukaVyanjanaChaamara ChatraKundala

For Saptavargas, add Mukuta Mukuta.

The following amsas are very important as they guide to the personality of the native

For Dasavargas

If the time of birth is correct and accurate the following table can identify the correct position of planets acquiring special amsas. Here also the greatness of the person depend on the number of good amass the planet or Ascendant acquires

Other utilities and importance of Vargas

Divisional chart is a microscopic study of each bhava.Rashi does not give complete picture of all 12 bhavas in

a dasa and a bhukti.Divisional charts spell out in clear terms dasa/bhukti effects on all 12 bhavas.Transit has a special importance in all divisional charts.Since each bhava has many karakatwas, it is difficult to

differentiate each bhava karakatwa on rasi chakra only.Varga kundalis will help in this regard.

Pre-requisites for reading the Divisional charts

For correctness of divisional charts, a correct Ayanamsa and birth rectification are necessary. Karakas in Vargas

The positions of Karakas in relation to the Ascendant of the Varga Kundali are important.Special emphasis is made to Drekkanna, Sapthamamsa, Navamsa and Dwadashamsa as karakas in these charts should not occupy the

Ascendant.Karaka position in other divisional charts especially in Ascendant will not affect the karakatwas of the respective chart.Karakas should not occupy Dusthana/Neechasthanas.Mars and Jupiter should be considered as additional karakas in a female chart in the Navamsa chakra. Importance of Ascendant in Divisional charts

scendant lord is important in all divisional charts.

In other words Ascendant lord should be very strong in the divisional chart and Ascendant should not be occupied by malefic planets.

Transits

Transit of Saturn over the moon's position in each divisional chart is important. It acts as 2 ½ years of Sade sathi for that divisional chart.

Tajaka and Parasara systems as applied to Varga Kundalis

In Parasara though Ascendant chart or Rashi chart is important, divisional charts overrule the rasi chart and indicates what is not found in rasi chart. In Tajaka system divisional chart cannot overrule the rasi chart. It can only supplement the rasi chart.

Dasa Bhukthi Interpretation

The positions of dasanatha or bhuktinatha are important. They should not be 6-8 or 12 mutually. Their postion should not be in neechastana (debilitation) either. If they occupy Kendra and Trikona or

are in 3 and 11 positions they are good.

The mutual position of dasanatha or bhukthinatha will not be same in all divisional charts. In one chart it may be good in another it

may not be. For this reason there is a mix of good and bad things. In other words a native may be happy in one aspect and unhappy in another aspect. These things are made clear in divisional charts while it may not be possible to understand the 12 aspects of life in a major/minor period according to rasi chart alone.
