acupuncture is a panchamahabhutha (pmb) - five elements therapy. it is originated in india and exported to china, a very long, long back. india has lost this knowledge completely. since china has preserved this, improved upon it and most importantly, practiciing acupuncture even today, it is called chinese medicine.

 

there are two systems for the days:

1. the present system is of navagraha days. the days are made and named on the basis of pllanets - sunday, monday, etc.

2. the chinese system of days are based on pmb - a vedic system of days.

 

there are five pingala pmbs and five ida pmbs. the combination of ida & pingala makes a day and five days a week.

a) akash (pingala) & prithvi (ida) - this combination makes day one

b) akash (ida) and vayu (pingala) - day two

c) agni (pingala) and vayu (ida) - day three

d) agni (ida) and jala (pingala) - day four

e) prithvi (pingala) and jala (ida) - day five

 

this cycle of five days is the basic rule for one-needle kaala chikitse. chinese calendars are made out of this cycle.
