Which T Zone is right ?

Dear all,

J.Hora gives T Zone as + 4 for Baghdad (Iraq)

whereas as per Lahiris Panchang it is + 3 .

Which one is correct ?

Though I presume that Lahiris is correct.

The above query also highlights the needs

for verifying Lat, Long and T Z. through

additional sources apart from whatever the

software pre-set inputs reveal. l have

developed this habit, before pressing

the Hit button in most of the cases where

I doubt the software to give the right

co-ordinates.

regards,

Bhaskar.

Dear Bhaskar ji,

1. It's due to application of Daylight Saving Time, for instance

Time DST started on Sunday, April 1, 2007 at 3:00 AM local standard

time;

DST ended on Monday, October 1, 2007 at 4:00 AM local daylight time.

2. For the period of Standard Time, + 3 hrs, and for the period of

DST, +4 to GMT in JHora; for today, Dec 27, 2007, + 3 hrs.

Regards,

tw

Taking flat +3 TZ for Baghdad (Iraq) for any DOB is NOT correct

beacuse Iraq has adopted DST, which is not familiar to Eastern

astrologers, as mentioned in Msg#15818.

Even in the mentioned link,

www.baghdadcity.com

it is clearly shown like this:

Time zone

GMT +3 (UTC)

- Summer (DST)

+4 (UTC)

The correct TZ can be found in SWs using ACS Atlas, like KPAtro 3.0,

JHora etc. The ACS Atlas will tell you the correct location and time

change information you need to produce accurate charts.

Iraq adopted Time zone in 1/1/1918. Before that time zone is 44E21

means + 2.58. After 1/1/1918 it was 45E00 + 3.00

DST details:

From 1/5/1982 Iraq adopted DST up to 1/10/ 1982.

In 1983 FROM 31/3/1983 TO 1/10/1983

after that Iraq uses DST from April to Oct but not exact on 1st.

some times from 27 March and some times end at 29 Sept.

So not a fixed date for each year.

Baghdad, Iraq

Baghdad is also known as Bagdad

Baghdad is the capital of Iraq
