Guest guest
( #2861 of 21.6.2009 From Dr. N. R. Joshi in WAVES-VEDIC forum) June 20, 2009 Paroksha knowledge and Pratyaksha knowledge by Dr. N.R.Joshi I respect Dr. S.Bhattacharya for his sincere efforts in interpreting and presenting the knowledge from ancient Indian scriptures. However reference to Paroksha knowledge is opening door to all kind of scattered interpretations. I experienced this always when I attend lectures of Swamis, Gurus. The sad part is that highly educated doctors and engineers are attracted to intangible when they spent their whole life in discovering tangible knowledge. There is something in Hindu character that attracts him to intangible. My friend (chemical engineer) used to give talk on Vedas. I asked him few difficult questions about Vedas. He said “Joshiji, 99% Hindu people do not know Sanskrit. They have vague idea about greatness of Vedas. So I just throw names of sages like Atri,Vasistha, Agastya and describe their greatness along with greatness of ancient India. And this works. They invite me to give talk, take me home and feed me. Look what else I want other than respect and company of our educated people”. On this background Dr.Bhattacharya is making some good efforts. I personally will not go for Paroksha knowledge. This is so because I read how Yask (Nirukta fame) Patanjali (Mahabhashya fame) are fighting with interpretation of Sanskrit words. In the book that I am reading at present by the respected author from Japan on Mahabhashya, there are pages after pages to work out correct meanings of Sanskrit words Kriya, and Bhaava. Oral transmission of Vedas is the greatest achievement of Indian Brahmins and Sages. I respect them and feel proud of India. However I, as a scientist and engineer, cannot go in front of educated Indian people and talked to them Parokska knowledge. During my power point presentation on “Mahabharata history or myth?” and on “Internal Beauty of Sanskrit”, I tell audience that I am standing in front of with necktie and not with saffron color clothes, so you can ask any question and I will answer. If I do not have answer, I will say I do not know. But I will never say that I cannot tell you Paroksha knowledge. In my presentation there are references of books. People can look into them. I say clearly, I am either right or wrong. I do not have any hidden knowledge because my whole life is gone in discovering technological knowledge Thanks. Please pardon me for a bit long e-mail.
