Guest guest
Shri Utkal Panigrahiji, Jai Shri Ram! <Namaskaar, I think I am capable enough to bring your faith back to Jyotish> Before I embark on the journey of “phalita jyotisha” again, would you kindly let me know: 1. what book or books you consider the most authentic for " Vedic astrology " and why? 2. What is the ayanamsha that you use for making predictions? 3. Is that ayaamsha as per those very phalita shastras or is it a different one? 4. If it is as per those very shastras, kindly quote the relevant shlokas with their meaning. 5. If it is a different one, kindly let me know as to why you use that ayanamsha? 6. Do you make predictions through Vimshotari or Ashthotari or Yogini or Kalachakra and so on dashas? Or do you consider the combined effect of all those dashas? 7. Do you use transits also while making predictions? If yes, are those on the basis of chandra-rashi alone like Sade-sati etc. or are there any other methods involved? 8. What is your view about Krishnamurti Paddhati, Lal Kitab and nadi jyotisha, Brighu Smhita, Aruna Samhita and above all Ravana Samhita etc. ? Are all of them correct or all of them wrong or is it that only some paddhati/samhita is correct according to you? If so, why. 9. Last but not the least, would you kindly quote the shastras that advise us to consult a jyotishi before embarking on any plan? To the best of my knowledge, all the shastras including the Manusmriti have called nakshatra soochis as " paapa-moortih " who must be excluded from all pious/holy functions. 10. Since you are talking of spiritual journey, would you kindly let me know as to which Upanishada or Bhashyakara like Aadi Shankara or Ramanujam etc. have advised that before embarking on a spiritual quest, one must consult some soothsayer, as to whether one will succeed in one's spiritual mission or not? 11. More important than anything else for phalita-jyotisha: Do you use planetary longitudes as per modern astronomy or Surya Siddhanta or Aryabhatti or Grahalaghava etc.? If it is modern astronomy, why? Don't you have faith in the siddhantas or Grahalaghava etc., on the basis of which correct predictions are supposed to have been made by Hindu astrologers till about half a century back? For that matter, Benaras Hindu University publishes " Kashi Vishwa Panchanga " even today on the basis of the Surya Siddhanta, since that is the most respected astronomical work for them for both predictive astrology as well as working out tithi, nakshtara, Samkrantis and muhurta etc. Do you agree with them? We must not forget that BHU is name to reckon with! 12. I hope you have gone though BVB6, 1999b, Koshur6 etc. documents, wherein I have quoted the Puranas and Siddhantas etc. as per which all the festivals and muhurtas are to be celebrated on so called sayana samkrantis, instead of so called nirayana, whether it is Lahiri or Raman or even coordinated. What is your view about the same? If all our shastras advise to use a so called sayana rashichakra for our festivals and muhurtas, how can there be any separate rashichakra for phalita-jyotisha? You will appreciate that all the above points are very relevant to my returning to phalita-jyotisha fold. Jai Shri Ram! Navaratri's are going on, I am getting the idea that I should bring you back to Jyotish, I w'd like to know what was the cause in your personal/professional life that turned you away from Jyotish. In group or in personal mails, wherever, you feel comfortable you can interact with me. You are a respectable vedic scholar with some spiritual inclination, I feel devine urge to take you to Jyotish to get spiritual momentum to your life. regards, Utkal.
