To All Members:

The vedic story tells that Draupadi had five husbands. I've puzzled

over this story as to what the message is. It appears to me that

that the five husbands are referring to the five senses: seeing,

hearing, smelling, touching, and tasting. Therefore, we can surmise

that Draupadi represents the fulfillment of desires of the senses.

In jyotish, the depiction of the five senses can be seen in the

Panchamsha and the Trimshamsa vargas. These vargas were designed to

distribute the positions of the planets based on the rulership of

five planets, representing the pancha bhootas.

If we analyze the two vargas from this viewpoint, we can get a better

understanding of the slokas relating to the trimshamsa positions.

PS

There's more to this story. But that's for another day.
