Dear KRji,

>> The other Astrologers in the group also requested to enlighten the above

subject.

Proviso 4.6 of Ch.3 in “BHPS” says “Lagn is a very important point in the

horoscope. It is the Räçi, that rises in the East, on the latitude of birth. The

apparent rising of a Räçi is due to the rotation of the earth on its own axis at

a rate of motion, causing every degree of the zodiac seemingly ascend on the

eastern horizon.

Approximately, two hours are required for a Räçi to pass via the horizon,

thereby every degree taking four minutes to ascend. This duration, however, is

actually dependent on the concerned latitude.

Actually Sürya has no motion. His motion is an apparent one, as viewed from

the rotating earth. Other Grahas, including the nodes, have varied rates of

motion. The average daily motions of the Grahas, which are not, however

standard, are, as follows: Sürya 1”( @ rate of one degree per day) .

All Astrological software is programmed in line with the above and

the soft ware dependents mostly may not know to cast Lagna sputa manually for

given time in a day. Those who are accustomed to cast Lagna and graha sputa for

a given mukurtha would be better informed than the others.viz. Sun’s position in

a horoscope would depict its true position and where as its replica Lagna would

depict the nithya gathi of the Sun for that given day mukurtha.

Sun traverses approximately one degree per day (from one Sun raise

to the next) with in this one degree; nithyagathi of Sun’s position is depicted

by Lagna.

In this connection if you go through Shri.Varaahamihiraacharya’s

“Bruhatjaatak”you would understand the uthayakaala piramaana for every rasi in

ghatis as 4.3,5.5,5.28,5.20,5.04,5,5.12,5.27,5.20,4.48,4.20 and 4.14 from Mesha

to Meena respectively.

The difference in time slab is also seen reflected in Solar month

days [for the Sava-jit]as31,31,32,32,31,30,29,29,30,30 days from Mesha maasa to

Meena maasa.

From the above it would be evident that each rasi are of different size.

Explaining every thing through NET is very difficult, but could be

learnt through Guru Mukurtha.

With regards,

D.Sathiyanarayana Gupta.

Your answers are confusing; do you mean to say Rasi Chackra / Surya veedhi is

360 degrees and they are divided into 12 Rasis of 30 degrees each. Please give

your tentative supportive advices.

I am confident that your good advices would make young students mouth shut.

The other Astrologers in the group also requested to enlighten the above

Dear Karunakaram,

I advise You latest Sanjayji lecture about third chapter of BPHS. There

You can read about Nakshatras which are mentioned before listening the

Rasis. We have the starting point - Chitra Star and we divide the cirlce

on 12 Rasis - this is the basis of fixed zodiac. Then we draw equal

Rasis and they give nature to the bhavas.

Dear Guptaji,

Nicely explained. Below is my contribution.

Lagna is the entry point of an individual from the east horizon into the ever

rotating earth's trajectory. The duration of the rising rasi (lagna) is

average 2 hrs or 5 nazhika. This period for the rising rasi is only available

for the first day of the given month and for every subsequent days it reduces by

4 kalas (minutes). So by the 15th of the month only 1 hr or 2.5 nazhika will be

available in the rising rasi and so on. The subsequent rasis will be as usual.

Generally for Sun to pass each rasi it takes 5 nazhika or 2 hrs. In effect it

varies from 4 to 6 nazhika depending upon the trajectory of the Sun i.e., while

the Sun is in northern trajectory the duration is more and while in southern

trajectory the duration is less, but altogether it sums up to 360 deg in a year.

In Kerala vocabulary it is called as " Rasimanam " which is available in

Panchangas.

Hope it helps.

Regards

Ravi Nair

Namaste,

Thank you very much for your detailed note. I got your point, since prior to

the usage of soft ware I was manually casting the horoscopes using Vasan Drick

ganidha panchga hence understood your note easily.
