Many sistems including castism has no place in vedas or according to sankara or modern vivekananda .But u can see that with sankara mutts how a adwaiti can treat a person differrent .In that case all sankara mutts in india would hav occuppied by nampoothiries sankaras own clan.When sankara started we can say no hindus or hinduism in india ,he only re established hindusim by converting budhists and other cults and taught hinduism - its essence is vedas and adwaita. One the one hand you are saying that ancient codes of conduct forbid women to be allowed into astrology classes and learn the ancient craft of astrology, etc. And yet, those who are not of that sort of vedic thinking will disagree and by implication would be agreeable to women learning same. So is it that essentially, these two realities can coexist and flourish? That there are no absolute rules or codes of conduct that are right or wrong, black and white? If this vedic decree/recommendation is right then women should not be able to get much ahead in the astrology vidya! Right? Leaving aside all the western astrologers who are women, even if we focus on just jyotish, there are some illustrious names that come to mind. Dr. KN Saraswathy, Gayatri Devi Vasudev (Raman), Krishnamurthy's daughter, all these lady astrologers who write in astro magazines, and let us not forget the Great Lady who was Mr. K.N. Rao's first Guru, his Mother! There are many many more examples! Surely, something must not be right! Either the original recommendation that is forcefully claimed to be the gold standard recommended by some ancient decree or the reality that stares us in the face on a daily basis... I commented when somebody claims to be something and he was quoting some commentaries on vedanta ,which says all women should be treated as shudras ,if his mother is shudra and i cannot understand how somebody can be kshatriya or Brahmin and do vedas or vedangas or astrology .If by some ceremony it changes then we should do for every body and giv them a chance to grow. I request any body participating pls do subjuct wise discussions and no examples other than vedas.I was discussing mildly as --i said u can find pro and anti statements in vedas,as evrybody know it was manipulated from time to time .We can find all excuses ,while we serve mughals one excuse and when they hav gone one excuse ,This happened in british period also.we use all modern facilities and we r strict on no body shud cross ocean and he will be expelled from religion.Is it possible now.veda was telling loka samasto sukhino bhavanthu -----or rinwantham aryam viswam .And did we still talk abt some body visit a foreign country he shud be expelled .I dont need to make a modern religion only those who pamper this ideas shud show me a religion which will obligh this theoreys.so many controversial stands and double standard approach we can take . But dont giv example like in Tarka (debates) some body is saying if half full glass in half empty then full glass is full empty. I will end with one storey from history ,when raja of kashmir was disturbed when majority of population turned into muslim religion, one sanyasi told he will re convert them if king giv permission and while hearing the news the kashmiri brahmin chiefs s tratened king that they will suicide if any body is converted back to hinduism and reminded him of curse of brahmins.
