Guest guest
You must have miscalculated? The moon should be in the 7th, in Gemini. There should be a strong axis of planets in the 1st and 7th. You should note Retro Mars and Retro Saturn almost EXACTLY opposite Venus' degree. You should note Mercury very close to the asc degree. Guest guest
Dear Vicji, I did not miscalculated. Yes u are right Moon is in 7H which is Gemini. but Mooltrikona of Moon is in 8H. I was trying to say that which make Moon very weak or Malefic. the reason I was saying about health because ASC is at 13.35 degree and Moon is at 12:10 degree whcih is less than 5 degree so is afflicted to ASC. Also we know Moon is fast moving planets too. Correct me If I m wrong. Guest guest
Pranams Rickji, Isn't the moon's root Taurus after 5 degrees? I think your approach is too arcane, especially for the first brush stroke. THe moon is actually neutral for Sagittarius, and in his chart the moon as a normal shadbalam. I think the first stroke should always consider the Lagnesh. Notice that Jupiter and Venus have swapped houses. You are right that the moon in on the degree nearly of the ascendant. But moon is almost full and waxing. I would not call her weak therefore. Yours, Vic On Jul 3, 2008, at 5:45 PM, R.P wrote: > Dear Vicji, > > I did not miscalculated. Guest guest
Hi All Regarding the chart analysis, which is being done in the group. I think its a great idea to do this more often. Atleast one chart a week. May be to just learn and analyze OR sometimes to help someone in need. Senior members can guide and push this forward in a systematic manner. A database can be made in the groups database section, in which people who wish to get their charts analyzed can put in their data and when their turn comes (1 a week) then they could get views from across the group and this should lead to great learning. 52 charts a year is good enough for new comers like me, atleast.!! Some very useful material from free chapter of james braha. planets and houses +ve and -ve given all for quick basic analysis. He has stated that there are a lot of ifs and buts with the guidlnes, but this is good place to start. *James: *I made a list prioritizing what makes a *planet* weak or strong, a list for what makes a *house* weak or strong, and a list showing what helps or hinders a chart as a *whole*. First of all, bear these points in mind. Benefic planets are Jupiter, Venus, Moon, and Mercury. The brighter the Moon, the more benefic, and waxing also helps. Mercury is *somewhat* less benefic than Jupiter, Venus, and bright Moon, but *still* benefic. Malefic Planets are: Sun, Mars, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu. Planets conjunct Ketu are hurt *far worse* than planets conjunct Rahu (despite what many textbooks say). And *houses* are generally hurt more by the placement of Rahu than Ketu. I don't acknowledge *neechabhanga* or *vargottama*, which I consider generally worthless and which will be explained in detail later on (see Class Eight). A fallen planet that is retrograde is less afflicted, but * still* quite bad. Likewise, an exalted retrograde planet is weakened, but is *still* good. So, here we go: *Positive Planetary Priorities* *1)* Stationary Direct or Stationary Retrograde Beats everything. (Note: Stationary planets are so important that Class Four is devoted to a full explanation.) *2)* Planet is conjunct, *within two or three degrees*, with Jupiter, Venus, Mercury or bright Moon, *where the benefic planet is occupying its exaltation or own sign*. (Note: Beware *dusthana* rulers. If planet is conjunct a *dusthana* ruler, it will cause a wild card effect.) *3)* Planet is aspected, *within two or three degrees*, by Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, or (bright) Moon. (Note: Beware *dusthana* rulers. If planet is conjunct a *dusthana* ruler, it will cause a wild card effect.) *4)* Planet is within *two or three* degrees of its most intense exaltation *degree*. (Note: Once a planet is *past* its highest exaltation degree, it *quickly loses strength*.) *5)* Moon within one or two days of full (*can* even mitigate *fallen* Moon a Scorpio Moon). *6)* Planet occupies exaltation or own sign *and* is well aspected by a benefic. *7)* Planet occupies exaltation sign. *8)* Planet occupies own sign. *9)* Planet occupies the house of a benefic planet, and is aspected by the benefic *owning or exalting* the house (e.g. Mercury occupying Taurus, while aspected by Venus. Or, Moon occupying Virgo, while aspected by Mercury). *10)* Planet is hemmed in by benefics, and not aspected by malefics. *(10a)* *Excellent* if it occurs within one sign (Example: in a case where Jupiter occupies the fifth degree of Leo, Mars occupies the tenth degree of Leo, and Venus occupies the fourteenth degree of Leo, then Mars the planet in the middle is hemmed in by benefics.) *(10b)* *Very good* if involving three signs. (Example: in a case where Moon occupies Leo, Saturn occupies Virgo, and Venus occupies Libra, then Saturn the planet in the middle is hemmed in by benefics.) *11)* Planet occupies 5th or 9th house (*trikona* houses), *and* is well-aspected by a benefic. *12)* Planet occupies house 1, 4, 7, or 10 (*kendra *houses) *and* is well-aspected by a benefic. *13)* Planet is aspected by two benefic planets (*even* within a wide orb, say, 10-30 degrees), and no malefics. *14)* Planet *rules* best houses, thereby becoming *Rajayoga-karaka*. *15)* Planet *rules* good houses, thereby becoming *yogakaraka*. *16) *Planet occupying *trikona* house (5th or 9th) becomes fortunate. *17)* Planet occupying *kendra* house (1st, 4th, 7th, or 10th) becomes powerful. *James: *That's a difficult question. The terms benefit and power are kind of used interchangeably, just like the terms weak and afflicted. In the instances of numbers 16 and 17, where I define planets in *trikonas* (5th or 9th houses) as gaining benefit and planets in *kendras* (1st, 4th, 7th, or 10th houses) as giving power, I personally would prefer a planet to occupy a *trikona* rather than a *kendra*. But both placements are excellent *for the planet involved*. I emphasize for the planet involved because no one in his or her right mind desires to have Saturn in the 1st, 4th, or 7thhouse. These are house placements that cause a lot of grief and pain. *Negative Planetary Priorities* *1)* Planet is conjunct, *within two or three degrees*, of Saturn, Mars, or Sun, which are occupying their *fallen* signs. (Example: Venus conjunct fallen Mars in Cancer). *2)* Planet is conjunct or aspected *within two or three degrees* by Saturn, Mars, Ketu, Rahu, or Sun. (conjunct with Saturn or Ketu is the worst). *3)* Planet is within *two or three* degrees *before* its most intense fallen *degree.* (When the planet is past its worst degree of fall, it's affliction is *quickly* diminished.) *4)* Planet occupies fallen sign *and* is aspected by a malefic. *5) *Planet occupies the house of malefic's fallen sign placement and is aspected by that malefic (e.g. Moon in Aries, aspected by Saturn. Or, Mercury in Cancer, aspected by Mars.). *6) *Planet occupies 6th, 8th, or 12th house (*dusthana*), *and* is aspected by a malefic. *7)* Planet is aspected by *two* malefic planets (even within 10-30 degrees), and receives no benefic aspects. *8)* Planet is in its fallen sign. *9)* Planet is hemmed in by malefics, and not aspected by benefics: *(9a) **Devastating* if this occurs within one sign. *(9b) * *Very bad* if involving three signs. (Example: Venus in Leo, flanked by Rahu in Cancer and Saturn in Virgo.) *10)* Planet occupies the 8th or 12th house (*dusthanas),* and is not well aspected or in its *own* or *exaltation* sign (which is actually good). *11)* Planet occupies 6th house (*dusthana*). *12)* Moon is *very* dim (e.g. in same house as Sun, or in house preceding the Sun). *13)* Planet is opposite its *own* sign (called detriment in the West). *14)* Planet rules bad houses and becomes functional malefic (Note: Do not ignore *essential* nature of planet). *15)* Retrograde planet is considered latent, or slow to produce outer effects. *16)* Planet in either the first or last two or three degrees of a sign. (Note: Sometimes this is devastating, sometimes there is very little effect. Use intuition and look for corroborating factors.) *HOUSES: Positive Elements* *1)* A *rajayoga* (royal union) involving *one* or two planets in a house. *2)* Exalted planet in a house (near most intense degree of exaltation). *3)* House occupied by two benefics (not aspected by any malefic). *4)* Planet is in its *swakshetra* (own sign) in a house. *5) *Ruler of a house *tightly* (within two or three degrees) conjunct a benefic, where that benefic is *exalted* or in *own* sign. *6) *Ruler of a house *tightly* conjunct (within two or three degrees) with a benefic. *7)* *Kendra Trikona Adipathi Yoga* in a house (a conjunction of a ruler of an angular house (1, 4, 7, 10) and a trinal house (5 and 9). *HOUSES: Negative Elements* *1)* Fallen planet in a house, *near most intense degree of fall* (e.g. Venus near the twenty-seventh degree of Virgo or the Sun near the tenth degree of Libra). *2)* *Ruler* of a house *tightly* conjunct a *fallen* malefic planet. *3)* *Ruler* of a house *tightly* conjunct or aspected by a malefic planet (conjunct with Saturn or Ketu is the worst). *4)* House occupied by one or two malefics, unless in *upachaya* house (3, 6, 10, & 11). *5) *Malefic planet in the house opposite its own sign (e.g. Saturn in Cancer). (Note: A planet in an *enemy* sign is a weakness, but not of great significance.) *6) *Ruler of a house is retrograde (this is not an affliction, but it does hold back house significations during first thirty or so years). *7)* Ruler of a house is in first or last two degrees of a sign. (Sometimes devastating, sometimes not. Use intuition and look for corroborating features.) *CHART AS A WHOLE Negative* *1)* Both Moon and ascendant ruler are weak and afflicted. *2)* Saturn *tightly* conjuncts *or* aspects ascendant ruler, Sun, or Moon. *3)* Ketu *tightly* conjuncts ascendant ruler, Sun, or Moon. *4)* Saturn sits very close to the ascendant degree. *5) *All, or most, benefic planets in the chart are weak and afflicted (e.g. conjunct malefics, occupying *dusthana* houses or fallen signs, and so on). *6) *Chart is completely devoid of *themes.* Planets seem isolated and have no relationship to each other. No one house appears to be strong. *7)* Very early or very late ascendant degree (0, 1, or 28, 29). *8)* Very afflicted 5th house (house of the mind) along with a very afflicted Moon or Mercury (planets of the mind). *CHART AS A WHOLE Positive* *1)* Both Moon and ascendant are extremely well-disposed. *2)* Jupiter *tightly* aspects ascendant degree, ascendant ruler, Sun, or Moon. *3)* All benefics in the chart are strong and well-disposed (e.g. occupying their own or exaltation signs, not aspected by malefics, not occupying * dusthana* houses, and so on). *4)* Several benefic planets occupy *trikonas* (5th and 9th houses). *5) *Many planets in *kendras* (angular houses 1, 4, 7, and 10). *6) *Many of the malefics occupy *upachaya* houses (3, 6, 10, and 11). Guest guest
Dear Rick, Eligio, and All: I've completed my interpretation of the interesting chart I put up for discussion. I hope you find it good, and look forward to your feedback and/or questions for clarification (16 January 1946 at 05:05 in Nairobi, Kenya) Firstly let me say that it is a pleasure reading this horoscope, it is quite unusual. The factor in your psyche which most contributed to your contacting me is Ketu sitting close to your Ascendant in the first house, connected to it’s root of power. This makes you highly inclined towards spirituality and “occult” topics, and is excellent for your spiritual intuition and progress towards liberation. You have very strong psychic and spiritual potentials and can become truly detached from materialism. The conjunction of Ketu and Mercury also indicates that your powers of intellect and wise discrimination are profound. Therefore I am sure you will analyze this reading quite carefully and gain a great deal from it. Not only from what I explicitly say, but also from implicit meanings you will discover. Also it is quite interesting that you asked specifically about both health and career. The planet connected with both of these (by way of owning the 6th and 10th houses) is Mercury - who is a very strong influence on your Ascendant. The Lord of your 1st House (Jupiter) is trading living quarters with the Lord of your 11th House (Venus). When these two planets cooperate I must advise that you can harmonize “spirituality” and “materialism” into a balanced and non-dualistic world view that would be a source of great peace and fortune for you. Career and Finance As a whole I get a picture of you as a man who is involved in leadership or government and who is connected with persons who are quite powerful. Your personality is very strong and intellectual and I see you being an excellent advisor on matters pertaining to long term happiness and pleasure. You are clearly a man concerned about others - their opinions affect you deeply. You deal with foreigners, and spiritual and military leaders. You can excel as either an ambassador or diplomat, or as a professor. All things considered, you are best suited in an educational role in connection with affluent and high placed people. If you have interest in law, you should pursue that. As far as wealth goes, these are the main factors: The Lord of the Second House (Saturn) is retrograde in the Seventh House The Second House receives the influence of retrograde Mars from the Seventh House The Second House is populated by the Lord of the Ninth House (The Sun), but this lord is weakened by degree and is an enemy of the owner of this house (Saturn) This confirms that you should earn money through scholarship and education, and/or from government or affluent, highly placed persons. The money you earn will increase slowly with diligence; you must make a conscious effort to make financial thinking a part of your daily thought. You most certainly should earn money most easily by interacting with other people, not by solitary work. You are could also be a doctor. Although you may not earn a tremendous amount right away, money does seem to be available when you need it, as if by divine providence. The Moon’s position, however, indicates that you will have to suffer a downfall in your career. This downfall will be brought on by secrecy and mystery. The fullness and general beneficence of the Moon, as well as her co-relationship with Mercury show promise that you can minimize the negative impact of this downfall by careful use of your intuition and intellect. Your relationship with your father does not look good. You have the potential for enmity with him, and it appears that he has (or has had) a negative impact on your family and your finance. You are blessed with good properties and land. Health and Longevity Your health is obviously weak. Here are the factors contributing: Ketu is in the 1st House The Sun is in a weak degree in the sign of an enemy Venus, the Lord of the 6th House (health) is in your 1st House and seriously afflicted. The Moon, the Lord of the 8th House (longevity) is surrounded by malefic planets. Venus is ill-disposed on many accounts. Jupiter is her source of help. You can receive good advice or guidance on health from an older sibling or a person acting in that capacity. Your health can be improved by adopting a moral or religious lifestyle - including a good vegetarian diet. Ketu in the First House weakens the constitution of your health. You must take special care to eat a healthy diet! You are particularly prone to sickness from poor quality food and ingesting poisonous things. A very weak Sun in the 2nd House confirms this. Ketu will become the most prominent planet in your life beginning August 7th 2008 and running until about the same date in 2015. The effects described herein for Ketu will come to the fore very much so during these years. I will reiterate that your health will be best improved by adopting good behavior. Do not overindulge! That will ruin Venus still further. Your health needs help from Jupiter, who is the planet of Morality. Moral behavior, diet, etc. is thus the key to improving your health. Regarding your longevity, I must ask you to take special care of your health with the advice above. With poor attention to this, you may die quickly, as soon as 2010. With good attention, you should expect another 20 years of life (and this is most likely). With excellent attention you can achieve as much as another 30 years. All things considered, this is certainly an appropriate time, beginning this August, to devote yourself to spiritual enlightenment and development of your Ketu potentials. Relationships and the Public In addition to your requested areas of focus, I am inclined to mention a few things about your relationships, because they are quite significant factors in your horoscope, and I am sure they are important to you, since Venus is in your 1st House. Ketu in the First House will generate many drastic ups and downs in your romance and marriage. Similarly, the planet of romance, Venus, is under extremely strong influence from Saturn (who is grim and distant) and Mars (who is harsh and hotheaded). Although this category of karma is troubled for you, it appears that you gain association with foreign women of exceptional beauty and femininity. If you are married there are three possibilities, in order of likelihood: Divorce in the first marriage, which results in you attaining a happier and more stable life. Divorce in the first marriage followed by an unusual but successful second marriage. Difficulty in the first marriage which can be saved and transformed into a successful union only by a strong conscious effort on your part to be closer and less secretive, and non-argumentative with your partner. Ketu’s strong position will allow you to be detached or untroubled by this. Indeed, Jupiter being the lord of the 4th House (an emotional place) and occupying the 11th (a happy place) indicates that your inner emotions can remain felicitous most of the time, despite provocation for grief. Guest guest
Dear Vic, I have accomplished a very minimum work in the horoscope in question therefore, I have only read the first and second paragraphs of your interpretation because i want to continue to the end with out bias. It will be then, when I have accomplished mine, will compare to see how far off I will be. Furthermore, I have the following interpretations such as; all planets are in good placement including the nodes. the 11 house (Ju) shows all positive, on the first house I have preliminary interpretations that may change as I continue with the horoscope, but Mercury indicates a very strong directional strength and he may be or was about 35 years ago a communication or education minister? also Venus indicate a person of artistic nature, and long lived. on the second paragraph, due to his age, is imperative to control the Vata condition with a well balanced diet, and herbs to balance his Vata, Kapha, Pitta constitution. Eligio --- On Fri, 7/4/08, Vic D <vicdicara wrote: Vic D <vicdicara Re: VERY INTERESTING CHART: 7 Planet 1-7 Axis jyotish-vidya Friday, July 4, 2008, 11:31 AM Dear Rick, Eligio, and All: I've completed my interpretation of the interesting chart I put up for discussion. I have posted the birth dates of this person anonymously because I feel it is an unusual chart, and good for discussion amongst astrologers to help clarify our knowledge and techniques. Guest guest
Dear Vic I spent 1 hr typing an email and somehow it vanished. :-( Will write just a few lines now. Sun is and 9th house afflicted by Sa, Ma, Ra without beneficial aspects. Relation to father or authority may not be good and may have ill habits. Ma, Sa and Ra together aspect on lagna, moon and sun may give short temper and violence also. Persons profession can be in metallurgy or metal related, engineering or teaching engineering. Moon gets tight aspect from Mercury and also aspects from Jupiter and Venus. Jupiters aspect on Moon even if afflicted by Sa, Ma, Ra should bring in light at end of every tunnel. Presence of 3 malefic in 7th and also tight aspect on Venus not good for conjugal life. May lead to spouses demise or sickly spouse. Sun and Moon both luminaries being under stress does not paint a bright picture overall. Jupiter is not aspected by malefic also house exchange with venus is +ve. Presence of 10 and 11th lord in lagna is good, but jupiter also in 11th may make the person too inclined on the materialistic side. Interest in occult may be there due to Mars 12th and 5th Lord, saturn 4th Lord and with Moon 8th Lord all being together. Sa and Ma being retrograde the malefic effects should be reduced or evident only later in life. With the above 2 points and the and lot of planets together may lead to rennunciation or vairag feeling later in life. More thinking will be needed to form a better picture of person in mind. Guest guest
Dear Vic, It might help if we look at the planets in a more personal way :-) For instance, both Rx 5th lord (Mars) and Rx Saturn occupy 7th house in the company of Moon and Rahu. What does this tell you about the influence children may have on the native's relationship with spouse. Mars is inimically placed in this house indicating some disharmony within the marriage due to children. The presence of Saturn could perhaps indicate a blended family etc, etc.. Guest guest
PS: We might also look at 2nd house in terms of domestic happiness, harmonious family relationships etc and the impact of Jupiter's aspect on planets in 7th. Note Jupiter's nakshatra lord Mars inimical placement in 7th and his (Jupiter's) dispositor in combustion. Jupiter, of course, is karaka for 2nd, 5th, 9th and 11th. Note the importance of JU/VE in shaping this native's destiny...Jupiter is final dispositor for all planets except Venus who is his own final dispositor. 10th lord Mercury in lagna could indicate a self-employed businessman perhaps? ________________________________ Dear Vic, It might help if we look at the planets in a more personal way :-) For instance, both Rx 5th lord (Mars) and Rx Saturn occupy 7th house in the company of Moon and Rahu. Guest guest
Dear Vic, I might also add that it's quite appropriate for an astrologer to ask a querant a few specific questions in order to establish the accuracy of the chart and to confirm that you're proceeding in the right direction. This is quite acceptable and I've never yet had a reading from an eminent pundit who didn't first ask a few pointed questions. No-one should be expected to work blind...we're not fortune-tellers, and very few of us have the insight of a Yogi Karve! Imagine going to a doctor for a diagnosis with a sack over our head and sitting mutely whilst the doctor tried to come up with a diagnosis...doctors aren't fortune-tellers either! Although marriage may not be good there is association with foreign and beautiful women which will cause him grief and strife. Note that Mars is functionally benefic and retrograde and saturn is retrograde. This could lessen their malefic natures. > Sun and Moon both luminaries being under stress does not paint a > bright picture overall. Yes, but bright moon (14th tithi) overcomes so much. I see that as the major indication of the entire chart: the closed circuit of positive energy between the 1st and 11th Houses. Ketu in the first!!! don't forget that! In fact, I neglected to notice in my original interpretation the VERY significant factor that Rahu and Ketu are stationary in this chart. This makes their effects extremely exalted. > Sa and Ma being retrograde the malefic effects should be reduced or > evident only later in life. Guest guest
Dear Mrs. Wendy, > For instance, both Rx 5th lord (Mars) and Rx Saturn occupy 7th house > in > the company of Moon and Rahu. What does this tell you about the > influence > children may have on the native's relationship with spouse. Mars is > inimically placed in this house indicating some disharmony within the > marriage due to children. I see your angle: The lord of the fifth brings energy pertaining to children into play in 7th House affairs, but since the 7th Lord is the great enemy of the 5th Lord, this energy takes on that context. Thus the indications of children and the indications of romantic relationships / marriage are at odds for this native. Thanks for pointing to this! > The presence of Saturn could perhaps indicate a > blended family etc, etc.. What is the reasoning behind that? Guest guest
Dear Vic I had ketu in mind in original email for vairag feeling. but mame vanished in this email while retyping. But you are right. It is a little confusing though, since whatever Ketu may be taking away, Rahu may be giving back with his dhrishti. I also read that Ketu has more effects on planets which is very close to it and Rahu on Houses it sits. Saturn has 3rd aspect which falls on 9th house. and the aspect has effects of Rahu and Mars as well. Again Mars aspects the 10th house and 10th Lord also. with the effect of Saturn and Rahu. Saturn, Mars, Rahu are all at last fw degree of the 7th house and Sun is with the 5th degree of second house. Ketu is also very close to the Sun degree wise, although not in same house. Thus sun and houses 9th and 10th are under Mars, Saturns and Rahus effects. If Rahus 5th dhrishti is taken into account then jupiter in 11th house also gets the effect of Ra, Ma, Sa. So the entire area of work and income, 7th, 9th, 10th, 11th and Lagna is under their effects. Saturn and Mars very close and mars aspct on 10th house, and Saturn Mars also looking at 10th lord who is in Lagna. Saturn & Mars in close proximity often give engineering ventures and business related to metals. Presence of Malefics specially Mars, and Saturn in 7th and almost getting into 8th may give some genitals trouble too.!! Not sure though. Effect of Saturn and Mars 7th may cause operations due to contact with Women who may not be of his class or lower than his. (sorry for the class thing, but this is how the classics write it) Yes moon is saved to a large extent or atleast not very harmed. Also retrograde malefics and and aspect of all benefics should help. How do you find that Rahu and Ketu are stationary. Any reference to any text which writes about such effect? Guest guest
Dear Vic, ///> The presence of Saturn could perhaps indicate a > blended family etc, etc.. What is the reasoning behind that?/// Saturn is associated with adoption and, in this day and age with so many 2nd, 3rd marriages, blended families are becoming more common. Guest guest
Dear Monica, //It is a little confusing though, since whatever Ketu may be taking away, Rahu may be giving back with his dhrishti.// This is yet another proof that the nodes themselves neither give nor receive aspects. If we were to consider 7th aspect for instance, then these two diametrically opposed forces would cancel each other out...??
