Guest guest
Parashara Discussion GroupDear All , In ancient temples you will see that there are two domes . One dome is at the entry and the other dome is that of the sanctum sanctorum . A bell is suspended from the center of the dome . On the ground , below the bell is the statue of a tortoise . You are supposed to stand on the back of the tortoise and ring the bell once and then listen with closed eyes till the reverberations continue . This will give you sense of internal calmness . This also means only one person at a time will be able to ring the bell . Why the tortoise ? It symbolizes the meaning that when danger / shad ripus threaten , you need to behave like a tortoise , taking all the limbs inside , going inside and be calm . Regards , Anand A. K.
