dear anita,

Pinda puja or shradda are performed for deceased

parents by the son. if the parent doesnt have a son,

whoever has done the last rites at the time of

cremation has to do the shradda every year. this is

normally done on the date and month of the year on

which the thithi falls ie if a person passed away in

the month of January 5th 07 in krishna paksha tritya

thithi, the next year the ceremony has to be performed

on the same thithi during that month( please note that

u will have to consider Lunar month and not the

english month for this purpose). If ur doing it at

Gaya u can engage a priest and he will do it for u.

Doing this will make the departed souls rest in peace

and also this will remove any curses from pitrus which

will ultimately do good for the family and the

subsequent generations.
