Guest guest
Dear Manasa, ///Thank you so much for the information. You wrote that Moon represents conscious/subconscious mind./// First let me qualify what I mean by conscious/subconscious mind both represented by Moon (mind). A thought first begins to rise from the most subtle (or subconscious) level but it's not until that thought has risen to the level of the conscious mind that we actually experience the thought. ///So could I say that power of the mind over our deeds and its results could be assessed using moon chart?./// Moon chart is vitally important and, I would venture to say, all traditional astrologers habitually note the placement of the grahas in relation to Moon...this really does (or should) become second nature to experienced astrologers. BTW it's not so much the power of the mind over our deeds, but that everything arises from the mind. The position of Moon at birth is the starting point of the Vimsottari dasa system which governs the sequential expression of our karma... Moon is vitally important! ///What is the role of navamsa chart? Some say that fruits of your actions could be seen from navamsa. So is the navamsa chart linked to the fate one have?/// All is linked to the fate we have :-) It's a package! Hopefully we can talk more about this soon. Guest guest
Dear Balaji, ///Interestingly, the 4th opposes the 10th [prestige], the 8th opposes the 2nd [wealth], and the 12th opposes the 6th [ability to rise above competitors]./// Good observation :-) ///We need to transcend prestige and wealth and give up on our urge to compete in the rat race to understand the moksha bhavas./// This could take many lifetimes :-) And what a struggle giving up on our desires would be. Our karma will unfold regardless of how much effort we put into suppressing it. Better, I would say, to enjoy the bliss of Self-awareness through the regular practice of deep meditation...detachment from our karma is a natural consequence of this. For instance, we have to transcend the concept of happiness [4th], agonies [8th] and sin [12th]. Interestingly, the 4th opposes the 10th [prestige], the 8th opposes the 2nd [wealth], and the 12th opposes the 6th [ability to rise above competitors]. We need to transcend prestige and wealth and give up on our urge to compete in the rat race to understand the moksha bhavas. As I read the line that you wrote above, this struck me suddenly. And just as suddenly, I realized why--my PD lord Sani is conjunct Moksha Karaka Ketu in star of Ketu. Of course, the house of conjunction is the 3rd, a trishadya--but the 3rd is the 12th from the 4th, the 4th from the 12th, and the 8th from the 8th--all Moksha houses! :-) ~~~~~~~~~ Balaji Narasimhan Author & Editor http://www.balaji.ind.in/ ~~~~~~~~~
Guest guest
Dear Manasa, ///What is the role of navamsa chart? Some say that fruits of your actions could be seen from navamsa. So is the navamsa chart linked to the fate one have?/// The proper use of Navamsha is yet another of those hotly debated controversies. I agree that special attention be given to this Varga (division of Rasi) however we should not lose sight of the fact that it is still only a divisional chart and cannot stand alone. It's importance (over other vargas) is, in my opinion, due to it's reflection of 'Spouse'. I'll refer to my own culture for a moment to give an example of what I mean; Quote: " A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. " Unquote. This close affinity between Rasi and Navamsha reflects the profound affinity between husband and wife...there is no stronger union! Likewise, amongst the vargas, there is no stronger union than that of rasi and navamsha. Guest guest
Dear Wendy, Your note on Moon is well taken. But, do you think Mercury has no significant role to play? Mercury is the one who would be able to retrieve the stored memory and put to use. In that sense it is doing only a supporting role. As Sun represents brain, it stores the memory, Mercury helps in retrieving and Moon is the one who is acting on it consciously or subconsciously. At the same breadth, I wonder what is the medium that carries our vasanas from one life to the other. What is that which carries these bits and pieces tagged onto our soul? Guest guest
Dear Krishna, ///Your note on Moon is well taken. But, do you think Mercury has no significant role to play? Mercury is the one who would be able to retrieve the stored memory and put to use. In that sense it is doing only a supporting role./// Mercury (intellect) is the process of knowing. This surely is more than a supportive role? The absence of intellect would, no doubt, reduce one to a virtual vegetative state, wouldn't you agree? All three (Rishi, Devata and Chandas) are essential. ///As Sun represents brain, it stores the memory, Mercury helps in retrieving and Moon is the one who is acting on it consciously or subconsciously./// Sun, representing the (physical) self, governs the physical brain - yes! However Sun, representing the knower, the silent witness (the Rishi) is not the physical brain. This we know through our understanding of the silent witness as the eternal never-dying Self.. Sun represents both the body (small self) and the Atman...AtmaKaraka! ///At the same breadth, I wonder what is the medium that carries our vasanas from one life to the other. What is that which carries these bits and pieces tagged onto our soul?/// To the best of my understanding vasanas are the faint residue of past (balanced) karma that remains with the Jiva after completion of a particular cycle (of many births)... Although I spoke of this earlier, it bears repeating in light of Rohini's last post.. Rohini Wrote: ///Why is there so much faith in this karmic influence?/// We're told, and we can understand this through our studies, that all the karma for a lifetime is encoded in the DNA at the conception of the body. Jyotish is the science for knowing the karma of an individual life given to us to provide some light on the path of our lives. This is why, through the study of a person's horoscope, it is possible to predict the future course of events in that life. Excerpts from Atmavedi, Part 1 *When the Âtman creates a new human life, the karma for that life is coded into the DNA. Without changing the DNA, it is impossible for the individual to escape the fruits of that karma. This means that the entire life of an individual is predetermined at birth. One has freewill, but it can only be exercised within the confines of the karma generated existence. In some cases, the individual has enough intelligence from the latitude given in the prescription of karma to make the decision to stop living an individual life.* Best Wishes, Mrs. Wendy http://JyotishVidya.com jyotish-vidya ___ - " Krishnamurthy Seetharama " <krishna_1998 <jyotish-vidya > Saturday, February 16, 2008 4:41 PM Re: Re: Our Mind Dear Wendy, Your note on Moon is well taken. Guest guest
Dear Wendy, Sorry for not responding earlier. I just recovered from a very bad PC problem. Just came on-line with Mercury turning direct. This particular Mercury Retrgration has hit me hard. I should study the transits carefully with respect to my chart to understand it better. I need to take care of many things before I am fully active. I have also lost some data for the mistake of not taking regular backups. I just wanted to acknowledge your mail. Thanks for your responses. Regards, Krishna Wendy Vasicek <jyotishvidya wrote: Dear Krishna, ///Your note on Moon is well taken. But, do you think Mercury has no significant role to play?
