Guest guest
Dear Babu, Manasa and All, Babu and Manasa have been discussing a chart, and they keep returning to the question of Lordships. Babu writes: > Ok The JUPITER is auspicious for the CANCER Lagna because it owns > the 9th house, agreed. But what about his effects of the 6th house > where its SAGITTARIUS sign, the mooltrikona sign falls? SURELY > there is some action there! The status of auspicious planets who own inauspicious houses (and visa versa) has held my attention carefully over the past weeks. I found excellent information in the third book on Mrs. Wendy's " recommended reading " page: The Art and Practice of Hindu Astrology, by James Braha... and I think we as an astrological community *really* need to understand this point carefully and thoroughly because it causes wild inaccuracies and differences of interpretation. A benefic is ALWAYS a benefic. A malefic is ALWAYS a malefic. PERIOD. A benefic is ALWAYS a benefic. A malefic is ALWAYS a malefic. PERIOD. A benefic is ALWAYS a benefic. A malefic is ALWAYS a malefic. PERIOD. Malefic planets can give good results when they own good houses - but this does NOT change their essential nature to be harmful and inauspicious. Similarly, Benefic planets can give bad results when they own bad houses, but that does NOT change their essential nature to be helpful and auspicious. If you want to grasp this concept deeply, is essential that you consider the grahas as PEOPLE, PERSONALITIES, SENTIENT BEINGS, and not as rocks or globes floating in space. A malefic who owns good houses will cause some good effects IN SPITE OF HIMSELF. In other words its like a bully at school who unwittingly pushes you into a pretty girl or boy, and thus begins a wonderful romantic relationship. Or an enemy who brings you tons of notoriety and fame by constantly talking about you. There are some good *side effects* from these mean people, but they are still a PAIN IN THE NECK and bad! A benefic who owns bad houses will cause some bad effects BY MISTAKE. Its like a mother who might unknowingly be overly protective of her son. Or a teacher who unintentionally hurts your self-image by being too hard on you. The ultimate outcome is good: you feel loved and develop humility, but there is some difficulty as a *side effect*. I will be radical and Rahu-like (remember I have Rahu in my 2nd house!) and say that I don't care what slokas you want to quote to the contrary! This is an essential point and we all need to grasp it. I don't believe this is against shastra AT ALL - but I don't want to split hairs on shastra over this point, because frankly few if any of us are qualified to understand the full context of shastra, and this is a *full context* issue I am bringing up. I'll finish up by stating that what harms a benefic planet FAR MORE than ownership of bad houses is a TIGHT aspect from a malefic, especially a tight CONJUNCTION. ( " tight " means within less than 10 degrees, and with each degree closer the effect is exponentially worse).
