Guest guest
Dear Members: Where can I get detailed instructions on how to perform yajnas for the nine grahas (individually, the surya-yajna, the chandra-yajna, etc.)? I will highly appreciate this information and am in practical need of it. Thanks! Guest guest
Dear Mr. Vicdicara ji, I do not know if such books are available on internet....difficult to imagine...for this Yajna techniques or methods are lost in traditions and Indian Western education and less respect for pujas now...... they are available in Telugu language.....old prayer books which are out of print for a long time...not seen them again for over 40 yrs till now..... one need to get in touch with old heritage temples like in Vijayawada, Tirupati....etc.... can say for sure...some old books may be available for photocopy....from the temple priests.....but one needs to do some good homework.....on this..... Guest guest
Thank you respected Sriram and Vattem. Has anyone simply seen planetary yajnas performed, who could recite what they saw happen in a fairly detailed fashion? I would be very thankful! Guest guest
Dear Vic, Some years ago now I was doing Angnihotra Yajna daily. It's a very simple Yajna and might be a good way for you to begin. I think I got out of the way of doing it when I went into hospital (a few years ago) for a kidney operation and just never managed to re-establish the discipline needed to do it everyday. You'll find a link to the (India) Agnihotra site here: http://jyotishvidya.com/links.htm Best Wishes, Mrs. Wendy http://JyotishVidya.com ___ - " Vic D " <vicdicara <jyotish-vidya > Thursday, July 24, 2008 10:04 AM Re: Re: Yajnas Thank you respected Sriram and Vattem. Guest guest
Dear Vic, From this site http://www.agnihotradirect.com/ You can download the Agnihotra software to your PC. It will tell you all you need to know. To the best of my knowledge specific planetary yajnas are performed by vedic pundits. The timing has to be precise and one needs to know exactly what yajna to perform when and why. It's my understanding that only the most experienced jyotishi are able to recommend specific planetary yajnas, and these, as I said, are performed by vedic pundits. It's important that the yajna be performed immediately prior to the rising of the specific karma. Once the karma has risen a yajna will be of no help - it's tantamount to closing the gate after the horse has bolted. I recommend you download the Agnihotra software and become familiar with this simple yajna (suitable for everyone) that is said to promote (general) planetary healing and peace... Guest guest
Dear Mr. Vic Di Cara, I have seen & sat through Yajnas peformed, but honestly, never had any occasion where planetary yajnas were performed. Nakshatra pujas are done every year in Oct-Dec. period, in South-India, common in that region, participated in such pujas many times. I am not sure about the conditions of doing the planetary yajnas. Guest guest
Dear Wendy Ji, Interestingly One Yagna is being performed by RITWIKS to appease rain Gods and is 3rd day and is a news shown in a channel from India. Yagnas are offered/ performed only by Vedic Scholars with a homam/Agnihotram/SunfireStarting with invoking various lords>i myself performed along with ritwiks and those solemen moments and vibarations are difficulted to be expressed.more i get involved in mantras chanted with some meaning and a rhyme All yagnas along with performers have a code to be followed and have to be observed strictly for the success of the performer. Yagnas performed for general welfare and parihara doshas have different ways. vrkrishnan --- On Fri, 7/25/08, Wendy Vasicek <jyotishvidya wrote: Wendy Vasicek <jyotishvidya Re: Re: Yajnas jyotish-vidya Friday, July 25, 2008, 1:49 AM Dear Vic, From this site http://www.agnihotr adirect.com/ You can download the Agnihotra software to your PC. Guest guest
Dear Krishnan and All, Maharishi once gave a very good analogy of a yajna performed to divert a specific karma. He said; suppose someone was on a high-board about to dive into a pool that had insufficient water for the height of the dive. No doubt such a dive would/could result in serious injury if it was executed. However, if there were people standing by who could foresee the danger about to happen and had sufficient time to place a safety net between the diver and the pool, then the consequences of that action could be averted/minimised. Maharishi described a remedial yajna as an action performed to divert the course of an action yet to come. This is where the timing is so important; once the diver has commenced his dive (the karma has risen) there would not be enough time to find a net and place it between the diver and the pool. As I said earlier, it's pointless shutting the stable door once the horse has bolted.
