Guest guest
Dear Wendy, Vic and all group members, I was just going through an article on yogini dasas by V P Goel. This article appeared in the Journal of Astrology July issue. In this article was a remark: " A debilitated planet in the 8th house gives Rajyog " . I found this quite intriguiging. Anyone else has come across this situation elsewhere? How true could this be? Or are there any conditions involved for this to be true? Any learned comments from the group members will be highly appreciated. Rgds, Neena

Neena I did a quick search and came up with the following rule; " If a debilitated planet is in the 6th, 8th or 3rd house and the lagna lord is exalted or in own sign or aspects the lagna, rajayoga occurs. " I have no idea where this rule comes from...perhaps other members might know more. Guest guest
Dear Group,  I think, I came across with this yoga in 300 Important Combination by Dr. B.V. Raman in which he had also given some explanation for this rule. It was a long time back and I am afraid I am not able to recall the same now. However, the book may be reffered to.  I have not seen fructification of such rajyoga while analysing the horoscopes. Even my own chart has this combination, probably the effects of this combination my be experienced when I go through the ralevant Mahadashas. ironically the same combination will also result in Durmaran Yoga for me so the real impact of this rajyoga may be difficult to assess in my case.  Should the group finds it useful to discuss my chart in this regard, i will be happy to share my birth details with the group.  Best Regards,  Akhil Jain  --- On Mon, 28/7/08, Wendy Vasicek <jyotishvidya wrote: Wendy Vasicek <jyotishvidya Re: Debilitated planet in the 8th house? jyotish-vidya Monday, 28 July, 2008, 10:16 AM Dear Neena, Your post escaped my attention, I'm afraid...apologies! Guest guest
Dear Mrs. Wendy,  I am sorry, I am not able to recall the name of the yoga. Moreso, I am not able to actively follow astrology for last year and a half becuase of my professional commitments. I will try to locate the book and find out the name of the yoga as soon as I can.  My birth details are:  DOB: June 23, 1975 TOB: 0245 Hrs. Place of birth: Delhi/New Delhi, India  Moon is deblitated in eigth with rahu, whereas Lagna Lord Mars is in Aries aspecting Moon.  This combination also cuases Durmarana Yoga. I am yet to go through Mahadashas of Moon, Mars, Rahu or Jupiter. However, effects of these combinations (if any) must have been felt in their bhuktis & pratyantars.  Best Regards,  Akhil Jain --- On Tue, 29/7/08, Wendy Vasicek <jyotishvidya wrote: Wendy Vasicek <jyotishvidya Re: Debilitated planet in the 8th house? jyotish-vidya Tuesday, 29 July, 2008, 11:05 AM Dear Akhil, ///I think, I came across with this yoga in 300 Important Combination by Dr. B.V. Guest guest
Dear Neena, Mrs. Wendy, and Akhil: The yoga in question (found by Mrs. Wendy, inquired about by Neena): > " If a debilitated planet is in the 6th, 8th or 3rd house and the lagna > lord is exalted or in own sign or aspects the lagna, rajayoga occurs. " As for the reasoning... I think it is QUITE reasonable. When it happens in the 6th or 3rd because these are Upachaya houses. A debilitated planet in such houses would improve over time, learn it's lessons well, and eventually become a positive force. Though the 8th is not technically an Upachaya house, it has a similar effect. I assume the yoga will be more affective for the 3rd and 6th house placement. It would be fruitful to research on this hypothesis IF i had ANY time to do so. Guest guest
Dear Group, a debilitated planet in any house should negatively effect the significations of that house. The eighth is considered to be the worst possible house for any planet to be located in.(there are exceptions, like for aries and and libra ascendants, when the lagna lord is located in the 8th). so, the only way to understand the rajayoga mentioned is the 8th house is when there is a negation of the debilitation of the planet. Of course as always, there are multiple ramifications. the natural signification of the planet that is in debilitation will suffer, the 8th house property of longevity of the individual can also suffer. regards arun jyotish-vidya , " neenako " <neenako wrote: > > Dear Wendy, Vic and all group members, > > I was just going through an article on yogini dasas by V P Goel. > This article appeared in the Journal of Astrology July issue. > > In this article was a remark: " A debilitated planet in the 8th house > gives Rajyog " . > > I found this quite intriguiging. Guest guest
- Dear Wendy, Thanks for looking up this yoga and posting it. I too thought there has to be some condition/ conditions attached to the debilitated planet in the 8th giving rajyoga. And the yoga stated by you does contain those conditions. This also brings us to the fact that everything associated with the 8th house need not be bad. As astrologers we have to keep all conditions in focus before arriving at any conclusion. In fact, I have a horoscope of a close relative who has Jupiter debilitated in the 8th house(Gemini lagna). She has had fabulous wealth through her husband. This is probably due to Jupiter in 2nd from the 7th. No connection of the lagna lord with this placement. But then 8th is also the house of unearned wealth and inheritance. Sorry I did not catch up with your post earlier. Guest guest
Dear Arun, I prefer to carry out interpretations without reference to " cancellations " . As such I view this yoga through more basic eyes: Debilitated planets in upachaya houses can be reformed and become good influences. Debilitated planets in dusthans (grief-houses) are in some ways welcome because of the grammatical rule of " double negatives " (saying " no " twice means " yes " - " I'm not not happy = I'm happy " similarly " bad planet + bad house = good results (for the most part) Yours, Vic DiCara / Vraja Kishor http://www.vedicastrologer.net On Jul 29, 2008, at 9:32 PM, arun wrote: > Dear Group, > > a debilitated planet in any house should negatively effect the > significations of that house. Guest guest
- Third lord will be debilitated in the 6th only in the case of Scorpio lagna where 3rd lord Saturn would be in Aries the 6th house, and in the case of Aquarius lagna where 3rd lord Mars is in Cancer 6th lord. This would mean that Mars and Saturn debilitated in the 6th house. 6th being an upchaya is a good placement for malefics. Also the two malefics are kendra lords of the lagnas Scorpio and Aquarius, which also is good. -- In jyotish-vidya , " ravindramani " <ravindramani wrote: > > Dear Vic, > > I agree with you.
