Guest guest
Dear Deepak, What you're referring to are the (Jaimini) chara karakas, used in conjunction with the Jaimini chara dasas. Jyotish-Vidya is dedicated to the discussion of Parashara's vimsottari system which employs the constant (or natural) karakas. Let me give the main significations for the constant karakas so you might easily identify which karakas belong to which system. Sun = Significator for Soul. Moon = Significator for Mind. Mars = Significator for Siblings. Mercury = Significator for Intellect. Jupiter = Significator for Children. Venus = Significator for Spouse. Saturn = Significator for Grief. Rahu = Significator for (paternal) Grandparents. Ketu = Significator for (maternal) Grandparents. If you wish to use the chara karakas then you must follow Jaimini's system to the letter and forget about the vimsottari dasa system with graha aspects, constant karakas etc.. Mixing the two systems is not advisable. Guest guest
Dear Deepak, ///but some one told me that rahu is atmkarak in your horoscope, so i was confused/// Well, that someone was wrong anyway! According to the Jaimini CharaKaraka system, Jupiter assumes the role of AtmaKaraka in my chart. ///pls let me know in parasari what we can see in Navmansha Chart, means what factors or what are the main properties of navmansha chart, kindly guide me about navmansha./// One of our members (Kundalika Shastri) has written a fairly comprehensive article on Navamsha. You can view it here http://jyotishvidya.com/navamsa.htm I should perhaps point out that my view on aspects/lordship in navamsha differs from the one put forward by Kundalika...none-the-less you can benefit from studying the article. You're welcome to ask specific questions (to the group) after you've studied the article. Guest guest
Dear Mrs. Wendy, Deepak, and Others: On the subject of Karakas I would like to contribute my recent comprehension of the term. Usually we translate " karaka " as " indicator " - for example, for " Pitam karaka suryah " we usually say " the sun is the *indicator* of the father " . I have recently had realizations regarding the deeper truth that the planets don't INDICATE or AFFECT *anything*, rather they actually *ARE* ourselves, directly. The planetary positions are actually a 3 dimensional projection in outer space of our inner and outer nature - much like DNA is a code version of who we are. Now, with that in mind, take another look at the word " Karaka " - The word really means " maker " It is a direct word, not a word of " signification " or " indication. " Rather it is a word of direct CREATION. Thus it is better for us to say (and understand) things along the lines of " the Sun CREATES your experience of your father " or even " the Sun IS your father " or at least " The Sun is your father projected in an astrological code. " The Sun IS your consciousness The Moon IS your mind Venus IS your charisma and potency Saturn IS your grief-born wisdom etc. Yours, Vic DiCara / Vraja Kishor http://www.vedicastrologer.net

Guest guest
Dear Deepak, The system you are talking about is part of the Jaimini school of Vedic Astrology. This list is generally focused on the more fundamental Parashara school. You can look up more via Google, with search terms like " atmakaraka jaimni. " Just remember not to mix the techniques of one system with another. Guest guest
Dear Vic, ///I have recently had realizations regarding the deeper truth that the planets don't INDICATE or AFFECT *anything*, rather they actually *ARE* ourselves, directly./// Such " realizations " are a true blessing bestowed on us, of course, by the Divine grahas. For you, dasa lord Jupiter's dispositor (Venus) occupies 8th bhava along with Ketu and Mercury. 8th, as we know, is the house of the occult and signifies such things as intuition, transformation, cognition of universal consciousness (constitution of the universe etc), mysteries of life and death... Jupiter is the giver of true knowledge/wisdom (such as religion, philosophy, vedic sciences etc). And, of course, MokshaKaraka Ketu signifies discrimination (hidden knowledge etc). Whilst Mercury represents our intellect...ability to seek out and learn.
