Guest guest
Dear Group, The following is the birth data of Roger Federer I found at astrodatabank. August 8, 1981 Basel, Swizterland 8 :40 am Based on this, Saturn dasa was excellent for his career. In 1998, he rose to international fame as world junior champion and in 2003 to 2007 period, he won many grand slam titles. My query is this, how did Saturn showered beneficial results for him? Saturn is his 6th and 7th lord from ascendant (leo) and considered a malefic for those born in the ascendant. Also,Saturn is debilitated in Navamsa. In his short biography at astro bank, it's mentioned that he had to undergo counselling to balance his emotional outbursts at a young age. Today after losing the game, he just couldn't hold back his tears.( I felt so sorry for him; I hope god gives him the courage to make a come back). Moon (27 degrees in libra) is just few degrees away from debilitation sign.I believe it's a case where karaka takes over lord of the 4th house. Is this correct? Regards, Manasa. P.S. Does anyone have the birth time of Nadal? I found two suggestions over the net.I know that he is born on june 3 1986 Manacor spain. One for 19:15 hrs and another for 12.00 pm. 12.00 pm seems to be more accurate.

Guest guest
Manasaji, Manasaji, What Astrodatabank itself says about 'A' rating is - " Accurate data as quoted by the person, kin, friend, or associate " . So I am quite confident that the data is alright though I would have preferred a 'AA' rating. I will get back on your query on Federer's chart if I can figure out the answer. In the mean time a request to you. I am interested in doing a research on the charts of musicians. So from your database could you please let me have the birth data of all musicians where the data is rated with either 'AA' or 'A' rating by Astrodatabank? I will be very grateful to you. Guest guest
Dear Manasa, The time of birth looks pretty accurate in my opinion. I tried to rectify it and have got 8:32:27 as the rectified time. I have still not looked at your initial question. I will take a look soon. Guest guest
Manasaji, A very quick reaction: It is not surprising at all that Federer did so well in Saturn Dasa. Saturn the lord of the 7th and Mars (Yogakaraka for Leo) lord of 4th and 9th mutually aspect each other. This is a Raja Yoga. Also in shadbala terms Mars is the strongest planet and Saturn the second strongest. Saturn is very closely conjunct with the Lord of the 5th Jupiter. This is also a Raja yoga. There is also a part Raja yoga between Jupiter and Mars - part because Mars aspects Jupiter but Jupiter does not aspect Mars. With Saturn involved in all these Raja Yogas, it is small wonder that he did so well in Saturn Dasa. Federer began Mercury Dasa in Jan 2008. Mercury in very close to Sun and thus combust in the 12th house - a dusthana. Mercury is also conjunct Rahu. Again not at all surprising that Federer's career started going downhill since Jan 2008. I am doubtful if ever he will get his 14th Grand slam title. Guest guest
Venkatji, I still am confused about the whole thing. 1)saturn is a malefic for the ascendant but giving raj yoga for the person. 2)Saturn is debilitated in Navamsa. 3)Mars placed in its inimical sign. 4)Saturn Mars aspect is expected to cause depression. 5)Moon approaching it's debilitation sign. 6)Lagna lord placed in 12th house On a first glance, if I didn't know it's rogers chart, I would have assumed there is nothing special in this chart.Would you also think the same way? Perhaps, relating with real life experiences is the only way to identify the advantageous aspects of a chart. Guest guest
Dear Manasa, My two cents here... 1. The blemish of Moon approaching the debilitation sign gets nullified as Moon is involved in a Srinkhala with Venus and Sun. As a result moon gets connected to its own sign and hence becomes stronger. 2. The same Srinkhala between 3rd, 12th and 1st lords indicate an excellent co-ordination between hands and legs. 3. Close conjunction of 5th and 6th lords gives rise to a strong Sankha Yoga, as lord of Lagna is also strong (being involved in a srinkhala). This bestows all good things in life. Sri B V Raman says that when Sankha Yoga is present, the sixth lord also becomes beneficial and gives good results in its periods. 4. It is very interesting to note that just the Saturn Jupiter conjunction gives rise to three important yogas: - Raja yoga - Vipareeta Raja Yoga - Sankha Yoga And, they are very closely conjunct making the above yogas pretty strong. 5. Saturn, in addition to the above three yogas is also involved with a Raja Yoga with Mars as indicated by Venkat. Probably, the strong influence of two kona lords on Saturn must have countered its blemish of being debilitated in Navamsha. 6. Both Mars and Mercury are not placed in inimical signs. Taking into account the compound relationship, Mercury becomes neutral to both of them. 7. As lagna lord is involved in Srinkhala, there is no blemish of being placed in the 12th house. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Dear Krishnaji, Thanks so much for the explanation :-). Could you tell me the meaning of the word " Srinkhala " ? Does it mean a strong connection ? Also, can I come to this conclusion that strength of involved planets could mask the malefic nature regardless of the houses they own? Guest guest
Manasaji, My views on the points raised by you: 1. I will not consider Saturn to be a malefic for this chart. My reasons - Since saturn's Moolatrikona sign is Aquarius, he should be considered more as the lord of the 7th house rather than the lord of 6th house. He is in a Great Freind's house and very closely conjunct with with the benefic Jupiter. From Moon, he is a Yogakaraka ruling the 4th and the 5th house. The Raja yoga gets repeated from the moon sign also though in the dusthana 12th house. 2. Saturn is indeed debilitated in Navamsa; but being conjunct with Mars in Aries his Neecha gets cancelled and becomes Neecha Banga Raja yoga. 3. Mercury is no doubt a natural enemy of Mars but in this chart being in the 2 nd house from Mars, Mercury becomes a temporal frined. Thus overall he is neutral to Mars. 4. I am sure you have read in some book or the other that Saturn - Mars aspect is likely to cause depression. But my humble opinion is that such rules cannot be applied to all charts in the absence of other indications. 5. Moon no doubt is approaching debilitation sign, but the important thing is it is not in his debilitation sign. Moon is in a friend's house in Rasi and in Navamsa in the 10th house in a great friend's house. So I don't think his Moon is weak. It requires tremedous mental strength to win 13 Grand Slam titles. The lords of the 4th House from lagna and Moon are ars and Saturn respectively and as we have already discussed both of them are quite strong. From lagna the 4t house is Scorpio which is aspected by Saturn - the raja Yoga karaka. Saturn thus as pects both the 4th house and the lord of the 4th house, Mars. Lord of the 4th house in turn aspects Saturn. This again is an indication of the combination of tremndous discipline and agression that is required to make a great champion that Federer is. 6. Lagna in the 12th house may just mean that in his life he has to undertake very many long distance travels to distant places. Guest guest
Dear Manasa ji, Srinkhala in sanskrit literally means 'Chain'. Srinkhala is a special form of Parivartana when more than 2 planets are involved. In the case of Federer, Moon is disposited by Venus, Venus is disposited by Sun and Sun is disposited by Moon thus completing a loop of parivartana. Like in normal parivartana, where both planets get strongly linked to their own signs, same happens in Srinkhala also in addition getting a strong bond with the planets involved. Such planets will have two behaviors, one based on their actual placement and the other behavior is as if they are placed in their own sign, which always gives additional strength to them. What I suggested is that the additional strength they get by virtue of Parivartana/Srinkhala will counter the effect of being getting closer to the deepest point of debilitation. I would like to add that this is my own interpretation based on my own experience and I have not read this from any classics. Hence, it is upto you to take it or leave it :-) Regards, Krishna On Mon, Feb 2, 2009 at 9:38 PM, m2sangeeth <m2sangeeth wrote: > > Dear Krishnaji, > > Thanks so much for the explanation :-). Guest guest
Dear Venkat/Krishna and All, If I might intrude here... ///Can you please explain to me what Srinkhala is?/// In Federer's chart, Moon occupies sign of Venus whilst Venus' dispositor (Sun) occupies sign of Moon. This loop (or chain) is known as Srinkhala Yoga. If I'm not mistaken Srinkhala (basically) means a chain or loop. Others might correct me if I'm in error, but this is my understanding. As for the conjunction of SA/JU in his chart, there can be little doubt of Federer's competitive power (ability to rise above competitors). And, most certainly, he accrued significant wealth due to this placement of 6th lord...conjunct 5th lord Jupiter in 2nd house of finances. Note also karaka for 6th (YogaKaraka Mars) aspecting 2nd from 11th house of 'Gains'...etc, etc.. Roger breaking down in tears when he recently lost the 'Australian Open' is not a unique situation as he's also broken down after winning a major. Being overwhelmed by his emotions, to such an extent that he's unable to speak, can be attributed, I feel, to Moon (karaka for 4th) occupying 12th from 4th...which BTW is its sign of debilitation. Mercury dasa has seen Roger lose his number 'One' ranking and (again) I feel he will struggle to regain that position during the dasa of a combust planet. He's still a gifted player, no doubt, but his ability to overcome his competitors (almost effortlessly) is no longer the ruling force in his horoscope.
