Guest guest
Dear Members, Like most I'm well aware of the News emanating from Australia and, although I'm sure it's not necessary, I feel I should point out that the only people responsible for the actions of these hooligans are the hooligans themselves. I don't know what it's like in the rest of the world but (sadly) the younger generation here seem to be completely out of control. Elderly people (often women) are frequently bashed in their own homes and as they walk to their car in shopping car parks...for the sake of just a few dollars. It's gotten so that you're afraid to walk on the street anymore. My husband has told me to keep my car locked when I drive to the shops as the risk of being set upon when I stop at traffic lights is very real. I don't know how we can control these thugs. What I do know is that decent Australians are appalled by this behaviour. Only yesterday, I looked out my window to see what the dogs were barking at and saw a man hit a woman in the chest. She fell to the ground and I ran out (in my dressingown) and ordered him to back-off. He threatened me but I stood my ground. The woman came to my house while I called the police and made her a cup of tea. I just don't know what's happened to the world today. Of course drugs have a lot to do with it...society itself, with violent movies and video games, has a lot to do with it. But, without doubt, it's getting completely out of hand. My husband suggested that they should bring back 18 mths national service (like they used to have) to teach these thugs some discipline and respect for authority. Best Wishes, Mrs. Wendy http://JyotishVidya.com ___
Guest guest
Dear Mrs. Wendy, It is the action of a responsible citizen of a country. You had the courage to do that. After all, at this age, what did you do more at that juncture? God Bless You. Regards, C.S. Ravindramani. >>>She fell to the ground and I ran out (in my dressingown) and ordered him to back-off. Guest guest
Dear Mrs. Wedny, What you did is really something very brave. Only people who are strong inside can do something like that. Good that it did not snowball into anything bad. The News is much shocking to me as only months back I was in Melbourne and I had such a good time there and I was very happy to see a harmonious multi-cultural society there. I might have failed to observe any negative undercurrents, if there was any at that time. If we take the natural horoscope of the world, Saturn is transiting through the 5th house. Is that the reason the younger generation is under lot of stress? At the same time is aspecting 7th house of business/partnerships and 11th house of gains and 2nd house of family. We all know the economic impact and gains of years got washed away for many people. Many big businesses collapsed like house of cards. In India, we had a few shocking incidents of grown-up daughters killing their parents for petty/trivial reasons. Also, a couple of shocking cases of fathers abusing daughters came to light recently. I felt that such crimes were on the rise only since a couple of years. Guest guest
Dear Balaji and Krishna, I don't know, I think someone who is afraid but faces his adversaries in spite of that is truly brave. For my part (exalted 3rd lord aspecting lagna) my natural tendency is to face any situation head-on, to react, without thought of consequences, against injustice...fear doesn't enter into it at all so I don't think I'm being brave. If I was afraid I'm sure I wouldn't do it, I'm not that stupid :-) Actually, fear is a good thing to take notice of as it's nature's warning of impending danger and we'd be wise to take heed when we truly feel afraid. Guest guest
Dear Mrs.Wendy, You are talking about Australia. I will talk of India now. This country known for its heritage and great culture, now no more remain so. Here too the younsgsters are taking to the untrodden paths of their ancestors, and mince no words when it comes to giving an explanation. The respect for the elders and the parents is fast dying out. The children in most homes dont care for their parents, like to reply back in offensive and hard tones , are disrespectful, do not like advices to be thrown at them, want to be busy in their own world of Computers and outings and friends and time passes of various sorts. These days parents expecting much from their children in their old age would be considered to be fools . Every body around has turned revolutionary, and selfish and self centered. All want quick money. Values are dying out soon. People like you and me are considered outdated these days for we like to speak out in face of injustice, whereas the latest trend is " Dont bother what is happenning around. Bother about yourself only " . To ask a glass of water these days in this once considered great country like India, from your own son and daughter one will have to think twice before asking. Gone are the days when one could tell his son, that please deposit this cheque in the Bank, for the son would reply " What are you doing. You dont seem to be busy or doing great work " . Too much of permissiveness, dawn of other influences and more liberised cultures through the Television and inflow of foreign population has turned the situations pathetic today. In our days holding a friends hand would have not been looked twice at, but these days one boy holding another of his friends hand would be eyed with suspicion, previously women were not safe, today even men are not safe , previously we never had the guts to even enter the room where our Father was seated, today we have to think twice if we have to enter the sons room. I am happy and proud to be from the older generation, thankfully. best wishes, Bhaskar. jyotish-vidya , " Mrs. Wendy " <jyotishvidya wrote: > > Dear Balaji and Krishna, > > I don't know, I think someone who is afraid but faces his adversaries in > spite of that is truly brave. Guest guest
Dear Bhaskar, You've said it correctly! The whole world is experiencing this same problem, and common virtues/morals are quickly becoming a thing of the past. As my husband and I have commented (for a long time); " Wrong has become right and right has become wrong " in this crazy world. Violence and hatred seem to be the order of the day, and drugs and alcohol are destroying a whole generation. It's a sad situation, and I can tell you honestly that there are times when I feel relieved that my time on this earth is drawing to an end...so much suffering all around! This younger generation is so unhappy, confused, insecure and angry. They feel they have no future, no hope in a world that's dominated by greed. With alarming regularity now we see well established, trusted companies sacking loyal workers and moving abroad where, due to cheaper labour, they can make more profits. People losing their homes, their jobs; families now living in their vehicles where yesterday they had a home. Young men are becoming increasingly violent, it really is quite dreadful. Older people, with faith in God, do their best to cope with it all, but the young men, with testosterone to burn, turn to violence to vent their feelings. Even young girls are now becoming violent and attacking helpless pensioners in their homes.??
