Greed is something we've come to expect from company executives but it should not be what motivates sincere astrologers who should, in my opinion, rely on donations (or a very minimal fee). This was my practice when I was giving consultations from my home (about 12 yrs ago).///Fortunately, there are still some good people like this. I have seen people in India who just allow you to give whatever donation you want--of course, some "famous" astrologers try to charge Rs 1,000 per question too!Many astrologers in India also try to push gems--and many tell you, "If you run Sani Dasa, wear Sani's stone Blue Sapphire" without even verifying Sani's nature (f/b or f/m) in the chart. There was one such person (not sure if I should disclose her name and hence I err on the side of caution and will not) that I had the pleasure of getting a paid reading from. She asked the birth times of my whole family. She spent almost 3 hours on the reading (after she had thoroughly prepared the previous day). At the beginning of the reading she said "From your chart I can see you are going through very difficult times. So I leave it up to you to send me any amount that you wish." After 3 hours of going into details for my whole family (Me, my wife and my son), she ended the phone call, without even reminding me of the payment AND not even giving me her address. I had to email her after the call to get her address to mail her a check !!! Her reading was so impressive that it renewed my interest in studying this great science. She is a very senior Jyotishi and an excellent teacher as well. By what I can gather (only a brief look for now) she never actually took the Maharishi jyotish course...learning instead from such people as KN Rao, Hart deFouw etc..
