A very nice gesture as you say Krishna, having the President acknowledge the religious holiday of Diwali, recognizing our allied and friend India and the religious sects who celebrate this festive occasion. I also watched the ceremony in the White House and have posted here a copy of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsJUy_ZMYuY It is unfortunate that the Sloka given was not translated into English or the President taking effort to comment on the soul meaning of Diwali as he proclaimed a White House Devas. Here is the translation in part of the Sloka in English for all to enjoy. A Dharma of religious purpose.
