Are you mentioning it because it rules confidence and reputation?/// For a (consulting) astrologer it's necessary that he feels confident enough in regards to the chart he's reading...he must be able to let go of doubts which can rob him of confidence. For some this doesn't come easy and it can take many years of practice to achieve this. Note 4th house signifies " confidence and belief " . Good judgment and discretion (ability to counsel and advise) are seen from 5th house. So in this regard, 4th and 5th houses are important. When assessing this, of course, we mustn't forget to take into account the karaka for these houses. If the houses are weak or afflicted in some way but the karaka is strong, the native may succeed in spite of some initial struggles... ///Also, the 2nd is important too, right? I mean, it governs vak siddhi.../// Of course 2nd is important in regards to education. It governs both education and educators i.e. the receiving (and giving) of knowledge. ///BTW, could you help me out with Einstein's birth data, please?/// Already did, Balaji? At ione level, 8th (intuition) and 9th (vedic science and natural law) will also help... I'm basing this on personal data, so it may not be that reliable. Often I feel overwhelmed when predicting (combust vakra 4th lord), but I believe that some of my predictions come true because of position of 9th lord, placed in star of Chandra, karaka for the 4th. In effect, I feel surprised whenn my predictions come true! :-) ~~~~~~~~~ Balaji Narasimhan Author & Editor http://www.balaji.ind.in/ ~~~~~~~~~

Both 9th (Vedic Sciences) and 8th (intuition) are extremely important. **For a (consulting) astrologer it's necessary that he feels confident enough in regards to the chart he's reading...he must be able to let go of doubts which can rob him of confidence.** I'd like to clarify the **above** statement I made earlier regarding " confidence and belief " . A distinction needs to be made between " self-confidence " (as seen from 1st house) and confidence in the knowledge and belief in our ability to apply this knowledge. This is my understanding... Guest guest
Mrs Wendy and Members, We always try to find correct lagna/1st house to know/find any bodys failure or success in life. The person having a strong 1st house has confidence to deall all his affairs, necessary to him.very competently.Then goes on to put efforts to gain knowldge and also apply his knowledge. 1st house certainly provides a native " confidence " .This in any case for a moment is a selfi confidence. Where as application of knowledge and the confidence he gains too is also part of 1st house. However as the old age goes " practice make a man perfect " is true in every aspect. The 3rd and 8th houses have a role in application of knowledgeand practise(smriti and sruti) You have also mentioned elese where 6th is routine work,8th is intution and 9 th is vedic knowledge. All these significances depenedent on 1st house, for showing interest to learn, practise to gain confidence and enrich/gain out of knowldege. The role and significance of each house is very important and they all together reflect of 1st house. That is how Astrology is very comprehensive in dealing with human affairs. No wonder I got confused, since I have same lord for both! Of course, should not the 3rd too be considered, since it rules courage and so is also reflective of self confidence? If we continue reasoning like this, every house will be important for an astrologer! :-) Example--quite often, we face criticism from the " scientific " people (most of them believe in science without knowing that four one-kilo weights together *don't* weigh exactly four kilos) when an astrologer faces them and other astrologers who disbelieve him, he needs a lagna that is stronger than 6th house to get victory over opponents. ~~~~~~~~~ Balaji Narasimhan Author & Editor http://www.balaji.ind.in/ ~~~~~~~~~
Guest guest
Dear Balaji, ///Of course, should not the 3rd too be considered, since it rules courage and so is also reflective of self confidence?/// Not really; We need to look at the bhavas in the proper context, 4th deals specifically with the end result of our studies...whether or not we're successful in our studies (and) beyond i.e., the application of our studies. 3rd deals specifically with strength, courage, valor, stamina, manual skills, dexterity, sports, fine arts etc.. Courage being the keyword here. Someone who engages in extreme sports needs a great deal of courage; someone who can embark on an adventure in unknown territory requires courage...
