Guest guest
Dear Group, As stated on JV Website... " The knowledge of Vedic astrology was traditionally passed down from master to disciple for thousands of years ensuring the purity of the teaching. Such illustrious masters are rare today and we have to struggle to learn from incomplete and/or incompiled manuscripts. No one questions Maharishi Parashara's status as the " father of Vedic astrology " and, although it may be difficult for some to initially discern the different techniques inserted into BPHS, more and more students, thanks to groups such as JV, are gradually becoming aware of the differences between Parashari vimsottari system and Jaimini chara system. I do keep my finger on the pulse of the jyotish community and I'm seeing many previous 'mix and matchers' coming to the realization that the two systems are vastly different. Many years ago now, I undertook training as a 'checker' (of TM). The content of the course was extremely precise, right down to the punctuation. No matter what problem the meditator was experiencing, the response was meticulously laid out...even to the punctuation! No deviation from Maharishi's teaching was allowed. This, of course, was completely in accordance with the age-old technique of passing the knowledge directly from master to disciple/student (without any changes) in order to preserve the purity of the teaching. Condemning this age-old tradition as fundamentalism, dogma, or narrow thinking is based solely on ignorance of the necessity to maintain the purity of the teaching. As I've also stated on the website http://jyotishvidya.com/parampara.htm " When the purity of the teaching is lost, the knowledge is lost " . I do not deny that there is an ever increasing number of so called neo-vedic astrologers who satisfy the needs of people seeking counseling (based on a horoscope reading), and I also do not deny many are quite good at this. However this new phenomenon is definitely not compatible with the mission of JV, and those who are in disagreement are always free to . I do want to make it quite clear that I'm not on any crusade to thwart the efforts of these emerging neo- vedic astrologers; as they say, there's a place in life for everything. However, as JV is primarily a Parashara discussion group created for the benefit of sincere astrologers and students wishing to share and expand their knowledge, in accordance with the teaching of Parashara, I've taken the step of banning Mr. DiCara from participating on the group ever again.
