Guest guest
Hello, I have kind of an historical question. From what I understand of jyotish (rather not much, obviously!), previous to Lahiri ayanamsha, Swami Yukteshwar had an important impact and was grounded on the Surya Siddhanta for his astrological works, or at least for what is known as the Yuga. Revati star was the fiducial also. Apparently he evaluated the ayanamsha to 20:54:36 on spring equinox 1894 (when he wrote Holy Science?), with Surya Siddhanta precession rate of 54 " . So, I would like to know if anyone uses this ayanamsha and precession rate, and what are the results? And what about Swami Yukteshwar result? The reason of my question is quite simple. If jyotisha is grounded on indian astronomy, as gathered in Surya Siddhanta, I suppose that we should use the same " notions " , regardless of the " scientific " knowledge... What do you think? Remember, I don't wish to start any argument at all, but only wish to understand how, historically, jyotishi worked. Thank you! -- With my best regards, François Carrière
