In the 2008 annual chart you will find Saturn in the tenth house of government. Based on mudda dasa, Saturn period is at the end of 2008. I believe that is when elections should be held. A similar setup happened in the 2003 annual chart where Saturn was in the tenth house. Based on mudda dasa, Saturn period occurred in April-May of 2004 that is when elections were held. This indicates change of government in the India chart and loss of status in the Congress chart. In the 2008 India chart Saturn mudda dasa is running at the end of year. However, this is in my view a case of " winning a battle and losing the war " ! If Mr Singh resigned and called for early elections in Nov or so, they would have surely won. Instead, they chose to cling on to power for a few more months and will probably hold elections in March-May 2009. This will prove to be a foolish strategy and they will pay a huge price. Next year is terrible based on the Congress(I) party chart. Congress(I) will lose a lot of ground in the elections next year. * * * In 2007-08 annual TP chart (2007 Dec 31, 7:12:33 am IST, New Delhi), Sg lagna is occupied by Jupiter, Sun and Mercury. Dasa of 5th lord in marana karaka sthana made the communists walk out. Dasa of 7th and 10th lord and ruler of the year Mercury (July 11-Sept 5) brought new alliances and this victory. Dasa of Jupiter (Oct 8-Dec 10) is so favorable for holding elections and winning! But they are going to miss the window now... In the 2008-09 annual TP chart (2008 Dec 19, 10:23:06 am IST, New Delhi), lagna lord and ruler of the year Saturn is in 8th house. Lagna contains 12th lord Jupiter afflicted by Rahu. Even though yogakaraka Venus is in lagna, he is afflicted by this Guru-Chandala yoga in lagna. Sun is in the 12th with Mars and Mercury. This chart does not show continuing in power at all. * * * The UPA/Congress(I) government has chosen to cling on to power for another 3-4 months and there are rumors of huge amounts of money changing hands. Opposition, journalists and people may wonder why nuclear deal is so important that the government should gamble everything on it and possibly spend huge amounts of money to buy power for another 3-4 months just so that the deal could be passed. People who paid no attention until now will wonder why the government obsessed about this deal. There may be allegations of foreign money " buying " the government to rush the nuclear deal through. This single-minded focus on one issue may put off the country in the midst of a rising inflation. In BJP's annual TP chart of 2009-10, 5th lord Venus is exalted in 10th with Sun and probably elections will be in his dasa. Thus, BJP may be able to whip up a wave of patriotism in the electorate and ride it to power. They may succeed in portraying this nuclear deal as an unpatriotic sell-out to US interests by a subservient Indian government and portray the government as an unpatrotic, corrupt and anti-common man government that mints money in a nuclear deal that compromises the national interest while common man continues to suffer from rising inflation. Look at the annual TP charts of L.K. Advani and Dr Murli Manohar Joshi for the next spring!! Both show nice raja yogas. One of them is likely the next Prime Minister of India. To your analysis for next general elections, I also add the fact that Sani going Retrograde (in Simha) around January timeframe will bring change of Government, which is in line with what you predicted. Retrograde Sani will settle the account (in this case it should be the Government) that Congress had setup and will hand it over to another party, just before going direct again - perfect timing of elections. As an independently thinking well-wisher of India who did some exploration on this issue, I have a personal interest and a personal bias in this issue. I may not be able to analyze this issue objectively from an astrological perspective. I am AGAINST this deal and WANT this deal to fail. Period. * * * If you look at the transits of planets, you will see that this treaty was signed when Mars and Ketu were transiting in Aries navamsa and Saturn and Rahu were transiting in Libra navamsa. These are the 6th and 12th houses in India's natal rasi chart and these shady transits in those signs do show some direct and hidden agendas against India's interests. Moon was transiting in Sagittarius navamsa, i.e. 8th house from natal lagna. This again shows a weak mind. Also, in natal rasi chart, 5th house of judgment is Virgo. The paramayush of human beings is 120 years. When we know the paramayush (e.g. in a swearing-in chart for a 4 or 5 year term), we can compress dasas from 120 years to the relevant paramayush. But, the paramayush of a nation's chart or a company's chart or a treaty's chart is unknown. So finding 120-year based Vimsottari dasa is illogical. I prefer to use annual solar/soli-lunar return charts. The last year's TP of the nuclear treaty chart shows a rocky year. But I am afraid this year's chart is quite good. The lagna and 10th lord Jupiter is in 10th in moolatrikona and his dasa runs from June 16 to Aug 17. India made good progress in this dasa from its end. I have always believed that this is a very bad deal for India, despite what the mainstream media says. I think India is being tricked into a disadvantageous deal that will lock India for ever in an inferior status in the gamut of nuclear powers, make India invest a lot of money into nuclear infrastructure without a guarantee of any kind on an unbroken fuel supply, keep them permanently at the mercy of US government and US congress for the continuation of fuel supply (without which all the huge investment will be a waste) and hence get a lever to pull to compromise India's fierce independence in geopolitical matters. At the end of it, this expensive solution addresses only 4-5% of India's energy need and distracts India from real solutions, which need to be homegrown. I am amazed that mainstream Indian media did a very very very very poor job of analyzing this deal from India's perspective and exhibited unjustified and childish ehphoria at this deal, that Indian legislative branch also did not ask for their privileges and toed the line of the executive branch without due discussion and that the fact that only communists opposed this suddenly makes this look an issue of opposing US capitalism. This is not about US capitalism. This is about a deal that short-changes India and puts India at a disadvantage. What kind of an idiot buys an expensive car from an influential landlord who is known for armtwisting others and getting what he wants at any cost, especially if that car can carry only 4 people while one needs a vehicle to transport 100 people simultaneously, even as the landlord says that he will not guarantee fuel and parts in future for this car and will make a decision every year in consultation with his people on continued supply of fuel and parts based on the good behavior of the customer? This analogy is not too inappropriate! Sadly, media does not get it. Even communists who opposed the deal do not really get it. They just instinctively oppose the deal because of their hatred of US. I am not anti-US. I admire the smartness of US negotiators and wish Indians were as smart. The bottomline is that it has to be two-sided with comparable levers and pains for both countries. I may not be able to analyze this issue objectively from an astrological perspective. I am AGAINST this deal and WANT this deal to fail. Period. * * * If you look at the transits of planets, you will see that this treaty was signed when Mars and Ketu were transiting in Aries navamsa and Saturn and Rahu were transiting in Libra navamsa. These are the 6th and 12th houses in India's natal rasi chart and these shady transits in those signs do show some direct and hidden agendas against India's interests. Man Mohan Singh (MMS) and it will have as much of a positive impact on India similar to how his liberalization policies of 1991. Your analogy and analysis of Nuclear Power deal are inherently flawed for the following reasons. All the projections of 4-5% or upto 20% of power generation are based on planning commission numbers of what Indian Govt. can invest in. There is _no_ limit as to the private participation. With rising freight costs and natural gas shortage in India, nuclear power is the only remaining large scale power generation at our disposal. Availability of 24x7 power is the only major think blocking India's economic growth. MMS hinted that India may privatise nuclear power generation. This is a master stroke! Because all the tens of thousands of crores that will be invested will be by American, Japanese and French companies! Govt. of India will just buy generated electricity from them just like it buys it today from any of the private coal based electricity generating private companies. If USA decides to stop sending the fuel, since IAEA and NSG have ratified an India specific exception, India can continue to buy it from France, Russia, Japan and other countries of NSG. Also if American companies are generating power, there is no way USA will be able to use it as a leverage against India, since it will hurt the economic interests of American companies. In actuality, this deal provides much leverage for India in working with USA and other countries of NSG and will significantly propel foreign investments into India. To rectify (pun intended =) ) your analogy, MMS is NOT buying a luxury car from local bully. He is allowing the local bully and other smaller neighborhood bullies into running a cab service with their own investment. If the local bully threatens to stop the fuel to the cars, it is their business that will be hurt, and the cabs operated by other neighborhood bullies may not be impacted. It ties the interests of local bully to the success of MMS. What else can even Chanakya ask for? All these clauses in Hyde act do not have any teeth in practical sense and had to be there just to pacify the powerful NPT lobby. I do not doubt your research in this area, but I am afraid you are not very familiar with nuances of diplomacy and International deal makings. IMO, hHistory will laud MMS as a visionary for persisting with this deal. I am glad that MMS stood to the reputation of Singh;s and did not cow down in the face of oppurtunistic, cheap opposition from Advani and blind anti-USA feelings of Leftists. MMS is a visionary whose skills are greatly underestimated. Communists and Advani have found it by now. USA will realize it soon (if it has not already realized it). Dasa of Mercury runs during July 11-Sept 5. In TP chart, Mercury is the 7th and 10th lord of partnership and governance and he occupies lagna with lagna lord Jupiter and 9th lord Sun. This dasa is unlikely to make the government fall. Though there seems to be some doubt about whether UPA has enough support or not, it is my expectation that UPA will manage to stay in power through the support of old and new friends. However, next year's annual TP chart shows big problems. I expect that Congress(I) will manage to stay in power now, that elections will be held in next spring (i.e. no early elections) and that Congress(I) will lose considerable ground in the 2009 elections.
