[VRI] Fwd: Is astrology a science or a religious myth? in which aspect?

Dear Gopi ji!

This *is* part of research and an important thing to figure out and establish!

Because it establishes the need to learn something!

Take chemistry for example. When Alchemy prevailed, there were faculties and

schools of Alchemy I am sure but how many students enrolled or chose it as their

life's mission?

I would be curious to find out what was the enrollment in Chemistry in say 1700s

or 1800s and even if we factor in the 'estimated' population that we have today

what is the current enrollment rate?

I think Chemistry as a SCIENCE (PURE SCIENCE if I may add as it is defined and

accepted!) attracts a lot more bright minds to it and this is not for any

esoteric reason but common-sense. Pioneers established and demonstrated

Chemistry as Science and 'demonstrated' (not just claimed!!) its usefulness to

modern reality and progress that some may shun or pooh-pooh but if they are

typing on a computer or use any detergents in their kitchen or bathroom or use

adhesives or occasionally paint (their deva-sthali or temple, for instance?) and

have use for metals or take public transport (diesel...?) or simply cook food

before they eat (chemistry again!)!

In some ways this is almost a 'human' process and trend and hence so many bright

minds are trying to establish astrology as a science and to justify its

importance and need for modern society. No need to get frustrated or threatened

by it (I know you are not threatened, just frustrated! :-)) because it is a very

well tested and true paradigm and approach! Demonstrate the usefulness,

reproducibility and validity of something, say a discipline, a subject and human

beings will take notice! Humans are not foolish, though they get impatient and

distracted easily. They react because it is the sign of intelligence. Like

between a kitten and a tortoise -- which one would you really think is

intelligent, despite the cat living a much shorter life than a massive tortoise

or a sloth or a lizard or a slab of granite?
