Hi Anne, This evening I can actually start to type on the computer without a throbbing headache starting! I think there might be baisc confusion over the origin of *astrology* and the origin of the *12 sign zodiac.* Astrology in the form of varius omens such as a halo around the Moon or the Moon passing through an asterism such as the Pleaides seems to have been present in all cultures from a very long time ago. This kind of astrology is universal. >You wrote that the origins of mesopotamian strology came from about >116 BC. This is the earliest date for evidence of a 12 sign zodiac, each sign being 30 degrees in length. Actually the first horoscope with signs was around 410 BC, I believe. (I'm too lazy to look it up right now...) The 116 BC date was the latest date for those sign-star postings, which covered a range of a couple hundred years. ` Well before that time there appeared to have been a form of >astrology in Germany allready in 1600 BC. As stunning found was made >a few years ago: a beautiful bronze with gold layer disk from 1600 >BC, which was used for probable religious purpose. (please correct me >if I am wrong) I was wondering whether you heard of this stardisk or >the cultus of ancient Germany around 1600 BC. Is this the disk that was on the internet in green and gold colors? If so, I printed out that article with the illustration. Yes, that was a very exciting discovery!! (I can't go on-line now, so can't check your link. I'll look later.) > >Information about the stardisk is to be found at: >National Geographic online >http://magma.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/0401/feature4/zoom1.html > >I haven't found out much about this disk, but I am SOOO very >interested in the cultus around that time in Germany, because that >would really mean that there was an intelligent civilization in >Germany (next to the Netherlands where I live) which is even older >than the Egyptian one. According to Edgar Cayce there were intelligent civilizations long, long ago, the latest one being around 10,000 BC before the deterioration started that resulted in the lowest point spiritual somewhere around the birth of Christ. (He talked about the 12 astrological temples--something to do with initiation in Egypt around 10,000 BCE.) The Indian yuga system says that the earth continually cycles up and down and we're currently just starting to rise in Dwapara Yuga. (This is according to Sri Yukteswar, Yogananda's guru, in THE HOLY SCIENCE.) Sorry I can't write more. I'm still feeling very tired. Blessings, Therese
