Guest guest
Dear Panditji: Very good points, I agree. And I'd just like to say, 'destiny' just means pre-determined karma coming back. But, the kicker, is we were the sources of those original actions in the first place. But the way the Universe works, is... having done certain actions, then, the results are predictable...but.... and here's the key.... at every point in the present or future, we are free how we interact or receive those actions... I like to think of these 'karmas'....as bills. Maybe a 100$ or 200$, but.. and they're coming... But we have a freedom of choice, as to how we prepare for those 'bills' a-coming. We can plod along the way we have and have only 200$, in the bank when that bill comes, which will have that predictable effect... Or, we can change ourselves, save more money and having 2000$ in the account, find that, that 200$ doesn't have nearly the effect,...as predicted. My Guru, however, goes even one step further... " There's an aspect of Vedic science, which has the ability to change even the karmas that are coming. " He goes on to say, " Vedic yaguas, are those cosmic performanaces, that will negate or neutralize the negative influences, created from the past.... " And, for this I think of this analogy. Our karmas, are like snowballs, coming down the hill. We set them in motion, they're our creations,...but unlike the more fatalistic view, that they're going to come down, at a certain speed, and hit the house or buildings below, or,...we still have time, to set another action in motion....maybe build a wall to stop the snow-ball, or even throw another ball to knock the first one, out of the way... To me, this is the power of these yaguas.... Nice talking to you. Is Life/or Astrology pre-determined, or free?, > Mark Kincaid Namaste, Interesting topic and can be a futile discussion at the same time. I would like to take one more quote from Hart Defaow's book. This relates to the point Mark has made. Hart Defaws Guru once wondered... " Why western people have such aversion to destiny , it is so hard to live up to it. " Destiny is not fatalistic. Firstly word fatalistic has a negative connotation. Destiny is something one has to live up to. Jyotish gives you tools to see the patterns of destiny. Nature or Jyotish reveals a lot of things, but nature never reveals all. Thats the beauty of it. One of my jyotish gurus oncve said.. " If the jatak gets a good holistic jyotish reading, then he gets a free will " meaning knowing what is in store, you have the kriyamana karma to act upon it. The best way to live life is by norms of dharma put down by ancient sages. As one only has control over kriyanamna karma, make that a good karma, a nishkama karma as mentioned in Gita. Prarabdha has to be endured, yogis do that knowingly. The mere mortals run to some remedial measures after they start feeling the problems. Anyway just a few thoughts. ....
