Guest guest
RE: [global_healers] 2-All re. Healing & the Astrological Mind....from Mark Kincaid 9/9 Thank you so much Mark. I am so happy to be on your AyurvedaJyotishYoga list as well as the many others that I am on. As you know I have a special interest in medical astrology, Jyotish and Ayurveda. David Frawley in his book " Astrology of the Seers " mentions that the code within our stars or " astral " code can give us information about our potentials in the universe like the " genetic " code within our bodies can give us information about ourselves and our potentials in our bodies. This is exactly right. In the future we’ll look at brand new baby’s charts to see exactly what diseases and health situations they're likely to be predisposed to. Even now, a good Astrologer can see these things. What an amazing thing this will be. Truthfully, I’m surprised more people haven’t been exploring this aspect of Jyotish before now. Unfortunately, Jyotish is as rusty and not as profound as it should be. Western Astrology misses the exactness of Astrology due to it's calculations difference and Eastern Jyotish doesn’t emphasize the healing aspect of Astrology, enough. That’s why Ayurveda can have such a powerful influence upon Astrology/Jyotish. The missing key in Jyotish in the most recent past, has been it’s habit of seeing more fate then opportunity. One of the things I’ve been trying to integrate are the many healing modes of Ayurved, yoga, and Vedic meditation, to the diagnostic skill of Jyotish. When this is done, then our fate becomes more our opportunity for self-development! Most of my illnesses are in fact reflected in my vedic horoscope and working with medical astrologers and Ayurvedists has helped me adjust my diet in order to deal with some stomach problems more effectively. For me, allopathic drugs can be helpful in short-term situations, but for this type of chronic problem, I have found that the lifestyle changes and recommendations of Jyotish and Ayurveda have been most helpful for me and will continue to be so over time without serious adverse side effects to my health and longevity; which can sometimes be the consequence of long term allopathic drug use. As we’ve talked, the Moon for many people is the true source of much of our health problems. This is because if the mind is not strong, then the body can not be strong. And, the emotional mind or the Moon, in us, is the most confusing part of our mind’s because it’s so subtle. But, as the Moon/mind, emotions begins to strengthen and get more even, and stable; ie. Through things like meditation, then we see that the things we used to worry about, just don’t affect us any more. The same problems and worries may be there, but when the Moon/mind is strengthened then the situations are seem as challenges and not as hopeless. Studying Jyotish has also been particularly helpful in learning about balancing emotions and controlling the Mind (which is ever searching to attach itself to the objects of the senses and speculating on those objects) through studying Moon placement in my chart. Those suggestions for meditation which you have given that I have been able to implement so far have been very helpful and I look forward to continuing study in Jyotish and meditation. When I am able, especially in the evening and early morning, to do quieting meditations and also with my OM CD (http://www.amazon.com/Om-Reverberation-Master-Charles-Cannon/dp/B00004ZCP3/ref=pd_bxgy_m_img_b/102-5061089-4048144?ie=UTF8), So glad to hear you give expression to this in studying Jyotish for only such a short time! I feel so much more energetic and balanced during the day. I seem to be able to follow a schedule when I meditate. For me, a schedule is a must. I am a Vata-Pitta Dosha Leo (Capricorn Ascendent) and can blow like the wind until the fire of pitta is nearly exhausted, especially right now in the late summer. It feels like I have endless bounds of energy (Mars placement in the chart and transit also influences this). Well, with your good Saturn in the first, you’ll tend to really like and gravitate very nicely to a good routine. I’m a little surprised to hear you consider yourself a little Vata, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that Vata gets imbalanced by your Moon! But, it is important that I remember to take care of myself so that I continue to have the energy to give to others and not to exhaust myself. Also, I have learned from studying my chart with you that following the moon cycles by being more outward and active during the waxing phase and more inward and taking better care of my own health and healing during the waning phase is very helpful in keeping mind-body-spirit in good balance. The sleep cycle is so personal to each individual. I get rest most of the time between 10 pm and 4:30. I am usually wide awake by dawn and love to watch the sun rise...this is said to be the best, or most auspicious, time for meditation by the rishis. Now, this is what I mean. With your good Saturn in it’s Own sign in the first, you’ll be able to get to bed more early then most. So, this is a very good benefit that your Saturn brings to you. Also, the cycle of seasons of the year are purposeful in our lives or effects of the Solar Cycle around our Planet Earth. I can feel the change of seasons. My body begins to sweat out the impurities of the last season and adjusts to the new season. In general, I do not sweat much unless I am doing very vigorous exercise--and even then, not very much at all (Vata Dosha should not exercise hard, Hatha Yoga and Tai Chi exercises are best for this Prakruti or Dosha.). Autumn is on the doorstep and maintaining a proper " Vata " diet will be very important as Winter comes and the season here in Utah USA becomes very cold with the snow. There is a fine line for Vata-Pitta Dosha between keeping warm and becoming too hot. It is very common for me not to be able to sleep at all during that Pitta cycle at night in the late summer and this can throw everything off--leading to not only exhaustion, but depression. So I try to keep cool with a fan, but not to cold as with an air conditioner. This helps very much. Hehehehe. So often I am so busy helping and healing others I forget about my own needs and caring for my own health until I exhaust myself. I personally find that using Ayurveda and Jyotish in combination is helpful in self-awareness of one's mind-body-and spirit (connection) as purposefully connected to the greater whole, and even to God. Beginning just this Friday, following the new moon I have intentionally sought to slow down and focus more inward--to flow and be in harmony with the cycles of life. As far as late summer exhaustion goes this year, I am doing very well utlizing my energy well and taking balanced rest too. I am very greatful for all that I have learned in this regard. God bless and see you in the stars!! Om Shanti om... Ash Fun talking with you.
