upapada lagna

I have recently read a few articles about using upapada lagna for marriage

matching. When looking at my own chart, however, I become very confused. I am

not all that skilled yet in interpreting effects of certain planets, signs, etc.

So I am posting my query here to see if anyone can offer some insight into this

method.

 

FYI for those interested: upapada lagna (UL) is the arudha lagna of 12th house

(each house has an arudha lagna). To find it in your chart, look to the sign of

12th house and locate where its ruler is. Count the number of signs from 12th to

that ruler. Then take that number and count from the ruler going forward and

whatever sign you land on, that is UL. The UL will show nature (or appearance? I

have heard both interpretations) of spouse, while the second to UL will show the

result of that relation/marriage. Counting 8 signs from the UL will represent

the next relation, and so on and so forth.

 

In my chart, I have calculated my first UL to be Sagittarius located in 6th

house in my chart. Its lord Jupiter is in 7th with Moon (however my Jupiter is

quite weak and Moon is a bit weak also - I am performing remedies to strengthen

these tho). This UL represents my first relationship which I was in for 3 years

but it did not work out and ended in early 2009. I am a little confused about

this being my UL because I would think that Jupiter and Moon together would hold

the relationship together but then they are weak so is that the reason? They are

also in Capricorn being ruled by retrograde Saturn in 5th so I guess this is

showing it didn't work out. But again, i am not sure how to interpret the exact

effects of these planets in reference to the relationship. Any advice?

 

According to the calculation method, the 8th from 1st UL will be the second

relationship. My second UL would be Cancer (1st house) and is being ruled by the

weak Moon in 7th. Second to UL (showing result of relationship) is Leo being

ruled by Sun which is in 9th house (Pisces) along with Venus and Mercury. I am

not sure if this is one short relation which I had few months back. I had agreed

to go forward with one person for marriage but then few weeks later decided

against it as I had started missing my ex-boyfriend and as a result, I did not

feel much connection with this other person. From the time I had met this person

till the time I broke it off, it was just 2 months. I am not sure if this

relation is being represented by the 2nd UL or not... again, I am not very good

at interpreting the effects of the planets and rulerships so I don't know how to

judge it.

 

There is now one new person in my life and I wish to know if it will go forward.

Hence, i am trying to calculate the correct UL to determine the longevity of our

relation. I don't know whether to use this 2nd UL (Cancer) or calculate 8 from

it which would be Aquarius (8th house). Can anyone offer insight about this and

instruct me how to judge it?
