Guest guest
|Om shree matre namah| Respected pandit dakshinamoorthi ji, It wud b great if U spend some of your time and clarify my queries related to lighting of lemon lamps to durga mata during rahu kalam. Can this pooja be done at home?In north where I live temple closes by 11:00 am and the rahu kaal begins by 10:50 am (as per local sunrise) … due to shortage of time can I cut the limes and fill ghee and put wick at home,,, that is do all preparations at home and just light the lemon lamps at temple or do I need to cut the lime and squeeze the juice in front of Goddess in the temple itself.Shud the lime juice be thrown away or can one drink it? If one is not able to go to the temple for reasons like priest not allowing such a pooja or temple being closed during afternoon (Tuesday rahu kalam is in the afternoon 3-4:30 pm) then can a person conduct this pooja at home?If yes, then where shud the lemons be disposed after the lamp is burnt? If due to certain unavoidable circumstances one performs this pooja at home then will it be effective. Is the effectiveness and results of doing lemon pooja with devotion at home be same as the same pooja being done in temple? Pandit ji,it wud be great to hear your views on the lemon pooja for durga mata during rahu kalam. Thanks a lot.Regards,shalini.
Guest V.SUNDARESAN, OOTY.
Lighting lemon lamp before goddess durga pacifies the god. Since durga is "ugram" goddess (fierce and hot) we cool her with lemon lamp thereby cooling her and get her blessings and clear our blocks. Ragu's impacts on an indivdual will be cleared on lighting lemon lamp. Do not drink the juice after squeezing it. You should squeeze it outside. That is, your body's heat, bad evils are being drawn into the juice and let out, when you do so.
