: Western vs Vedic Sun Sign & Astrologys...

Hi Flick, hope the " Grand One " arrives soon for your " sanity sake " ;-[)

Arthyr> This is the problem with " dedicated " studies.

It's hard to break out of the mold. .

I think this is why God might have created Modern Science....to help all of us,... 'break out' of our molds...

Look at the History of those times, people argueing soooo intensely....whether the Earth was flat or round... or the Center of the Universe....

and so a more objective system of understanding needed to evolve....

And the same is true for Astrology today....

we need to apply all the great things that have evolved from Science... and apply to 'us'....

There's still a great need to bring light to a truely modern....Science of Consciousness or Psychology...

I told a friend one time I thought Jyotish was Vedic Psychology!

And being trained as a Western Psychologist....we had a long conversation....

Now, I understand....that Jyotish is extremely good at helping us understand...the fact...

that Consciousness itself.... may be better understood, by understanding the natures of the Astrological qualities...and configurations....

.. Which is why I created

the sunset method. . . serves both the Western and Eastern

systems. . . something Mark wishes to accomplish.

> My husband, for example, has sun in Cancer in Jyotish and no

>Leo, but in western astrology he has 6 planets in Leo and he looks like a

>lion, he really does!

That's because, in Jyotish, Cancer " looks like a lion " . . . not a crab.

Crabs look like Geminis in Jyotish. It all falls back one sign.

It may also be that there might be some other planets in Leo in his Jyotish chart...

The 2 systems are only 23 degrees apart...now...

But, in another 1400 years...they'll be over 46 degrees... and the coincidences....

will be less and less....

Hopefully, by then, we'll see a kind of merging of the two....into a greater, something,....

whole!

I have met these gifted people as well. Amazing, thanks to Linda Goodman!!

>I think Jyotish is very accurate for events, complex relationships,

>appearance.

Interesting thought. All systems have their merit. . . in combination

they become impossible. It's like trying to merge two different departments

into a single entity.

The ideas I put forth do keep these combinations

in separate chambers, in a matter of speaking, but I found it necessary to

delete the house and sign " meaning " out of the equation.

I still get an abundance of information from this methodology without all

the inter-weaving and weighing of planetary placements.

> In fact some of the sign appearance definitions I've seen for

>Vedic astrology are far less apt than the western ones.

It's the process. Does the Sun, standing all alone without the

benefit of a backdrop (sign), look like a lion? Still, it " rules "

or is lord of the sign of Leo.

>Maybe at the end of the day we're looking at symbolism here. If you assign

>symbolism it will eventually become alive in its own right.

Excellent point. . . the mind looks for similarities once the

organizational facilities are in place.

What I'm interested in, however, is.....

can we find the really, 'true'.... Astrological facts.... that exist...inside of us...

like blood chemistry, and genetic predisposition to certain diseases....etc...

It's not just a matter of expectation and suggestion....

My Jyotish chart, really does fit me better....

Though there are a number of aspects to Jyotish & Western.... that I believe...

need to be changed....

I'm in the process of writing a letter regarding the Best of West & East.....

which I'll produce here, soon,...

and I'd love everyone's feedbacks regarding it...

take care
