Mark, very interesting. I want one or the other to be it, I really do, but I can see both in people, even when influences can't be ascribed to overlap or close planets. This is why I love studying... Nature...and it's Transits..... and real people.... because I believe there really is a really, true, Astrology.... that exists..... and that's the one we should be finding.... That's why I like this concept of a Nature's Astrology.... so, we learn to 'find' that.....which is our true....Astrological characteristics.... My husband, for example, has sun in Cancer in Jyotish and no Leo, but in western astrology he has 6 planets in Leo and he looks like a lion, he really does! I met someone once who was a schools inspector. Send me your husband's date of birth info. and we can reflect on this question... She could tell people's sun signs from years of studying yearly intake for schools and getting to know which appearance went with which signs - she didn't know much about astrology beyond that. She went round a whole gathering I was at and picked out everyone's sun signs. Once you start to really understand the Astrololgical configurations... you can really see ....them existing....within people.... it's quite wonderful... I think Jyotish is very accurate for events, complex relationships, divisional charts etc, but the jury's out regarding personality and appearance. I know Jyotish can be extremly good at this too,.... though it's not often used in this way.... but for me, having a Libra rising,...and my Jyotish 4th house, Capricorn, ruled by Saturn... is with my....Moon.... in the 12th house,,......and being aspected by Jupiter in the 6th.... I so wanted to understand why people and their mental make ups....(4th House and Moon)! why we're the way we are! In fact some of the sign appearance definitions I've seen for Vedic astrology are far less apt than the western ones. Maybe at the end of the day we're looking at symbolism here. If you assign symbolism it will eventually become alive in its own right. Let's look at some specific charts....and I'd be happy to help you see, their Jyotish.... sides...... take care Mark Kincaid On 9/5/04 5:12 pm, " Mark Kincaid " <m.kincaid wrote: > Dear Friends: > > Here's a correspondence between myself and one of our Star Reports > rs regarding how to understand both Western & Eastern Astrologys... > > And since this is right up our alley, at Nature's Astrology, I thought you > might like to read this. > > > Sincerely, > > > > Mark Kincaid > >
