Evacuated After Tanker Crashes, Burns

NESHANNOCK

TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Six homes in Lawrence County were

evacuated while crews tried to keep liquid oxygen from spilling out of a tanker

truck, WTAE Channel 4 Action News reporter Marcie Cipriani said.

The truck drove off an overpass on

Route 60 in Neshannock Township, crashed

down onto Pulasky Road and caught fire at about 1:40 a.m. Wednesday,

police told Cipriani.

Police said the tanker was carrying

liquid oxygen, which is combustible but not flammable.

Johnny Smith, 33, of Canton, Ohio, died in

the wreck. Police said he may have fallen asleep at the wheel
