A

US military helicopter has crashed in Iraq, killing both pilots, apparently

being hit by hostile fire.

The crash happened near Mosul, north of Baghdad. It was the

second such incident in Iraq in less than a week.

US military commander Gen John Vines said

the indications were that the helicopter, an OH-68D Kiowa, was brought down

by hostile fire.

Gen Vines said the helicopter was on a combat air patrol with

another Kiowa when it went down.

On Saturday, a helicopter crashed near the town of Tal Afar, in

north-western Iraq, killing all 12 people on board.
