The victims were enjoying a temple fair in Henan province when a nearby storeroom full of fireworks exploded, officials said on Monday. The accident, which happened on Sunday in Anyang, injured up to 40 others, the French news agency AFP said. China has gradually been lifting a 12-year ban on fireworks. In the capital, 112 people were treated in emergency hospital rooms over the weekend, including 17 people with serious eye injuries.
