Guest guest
Tuesday, 7 February 2006, 02:29 GMT Tourists die in Rome bus plunge The crash happened on a winding road on Rome's outskirts At least 12 Turkish tourists have been killed after their bus careered off a road into a ravine in Rome. Others among the tour party suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. Rescue workers at the scene were working to cut people from the wreckage of the vehicle. The bus was said to be carrying about 30 people. One report said they were Turkish car dealers returning from a dinner in central Rome. The crash happened between 2300 (2200 GMT) and midnight, police said. The bus apparently failed to negotiate a bend in the road descending from Monte Mario, one of the hills in the Italian capital, the AFP news agency said, citing rescue services. Other reports said it plunged over the edge, falling about 20m (66ft) into the garden of a home in north-western Rome. The Ansa news agency said four people were injured critically, including the Italian bus driver. It said the bus was one of eight carrying a total of about 350 Ford auto dealers from Turkey, who had come to Italy for a conference. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4687860.stm Dasha: Ra/Ju/Ra/Ke/Mo satva Jorge Angelino Rua da Sociedade Filarmónica Perpétua Azeitonense, 29 2925-598 Azeitão Portugal jorge.angelino tel: mobile: 210813674 963916784 Add me to your address book...
