Eleven

pupils drown in Zanzibar

Eleven schoolchildren have drowned in a boating accident on the island

of Zanzibar in the Indian Ocean.

The boat was hit by a wave and capsized off the beach near the

main town, police and witnesses on Tanzania's

semi-autonomous island said.

The children were reportedly all aged between 10 and 15. One of

them survived by swimming to shore.

An investigation has been launched amid reports that the

children were not wearing lifejackets.

The bodies of the six girls and five boys were recovered later.

Education Minister Harrun Ali Suleiman said it was a sad day for

the islanders.

" I am in consultation with the president to declare it a

national disaster, " he told the Reuters news agency.

Dear Fraser,

In SA we should consider only two levels of dashas because generally people are

not sure about their TOB. Here, we are using the five levels because we are

trying to rectify the TOB.

Best wishes,

Jorge
