Guest guest
Heavy Rains Cause Landslides On Oahu Islands Under Flash Flood Watch Brent Suyama, Managing Editor TheHawaiiChannel.com POSTED: 9:32 am HST March 22, 2006 UPDATED: 9:11 am HST March 23, 2006 HONOLULU -- Heavy rains soaked much of Oahu on Tuesday night. The storm caused landslides on Round Top Drive and in Manoa. Tons of mud slid down the hill at about 4 a.m. and onto the 2800 block of Round Top Drive. The mud covered an area 100 feet long and 7 feet high in certain parts.  The landslide blocked the lanes in both directions. There were no homes in the area and no one was injured. City crews were dispatched to clear the mud. It took 22 truckloads to remove the land, one official said. The Department of Land and Natural Resources plans to assess the area to determine if there is a hazard for more landslides. In Manoa, water and mud rushed down a hillside and into the yard of one residence.  Homeowners Michael Hofmann and Linda Green saw waterfalls gushing down the cliff leading to their backyard. The mudslide left a 2-foot blanket of earth covering the backyard. " The first thing that honestly came to my mind was I was glad no one was hurt. I was also grateful that the house wasn't damaged because it could have been a boulder, " Hofmann said. A Civil Defense official said crews need to remove the mud immediately to prevent flooding in the home. The official also said he is asking for an assessment of the hillside above the home to determine if there are more threats of landslides. Forecasters at the National Weather Service said that more rains are expected to drench the islands in the next couple of days. The NWS placed all of the islands under a flash flood watch through Thursday night. Forecasters said heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to pop up around the state. That will put a strain on the areas already saturated from the recent rains. Flooding has happened throughout the state in recent weeks. The unstable weather spawned a waterspout off Kaneohe on Tuesday afternoon that touched down near Marine Corps Base Hawaii. http://www.thehawaiichannel.com/news/8189606/detail.html?subid=22100441 & qs=1;bp=t Dasha: Ve/Sa/Su/Ra/Ve satva Jorge Angelino Rua da Sociedade Filarmónica Perpétua Azeitonense, 29 2925-598 Azeitão Portugal jorge.angelino tel: mobile: 210813674 963916784 Add me to your address book... Guest guest
Dear Jorge and List, The island of Kaua'i was greatly affected too, it had a dam break due to the five weeks of steady rain, now six going on seven. It took some lives too, seven I think and thousands of dollars in damage. We had a drought for five years, and now this, for the winter, normally somewhat rainy season. The nodes are transit aspecting the natal nodes by three degrees in the 6/12 axis here. 6-public health; polluted water due to overflow of sewers,12-financial losses, mishaps. Rahu afflicts Saturn in the fourth house of land and assets, which rules the eleventh of future plans and gains. You can bet the dams will need repair, not just the one already broken!
