Confirmed also: The 10th Danville Convention, on April 19, 1792, adopted the State's first Constitution, in which Article VIII entailed the ratification of the U.S. Constitution. ********************************************************************* 1789: December 18: The Fourth [final] Accession Act, known as the " Virginia Compact " , sets the conditions of separation of Kentucky from Virginia, by a vote in convention to be held on July 26, 1790. 1790, July 26: 9th Danville Convention votes acceptance of the terms of the Virginia Compact; the State, generically understood as " original compact " , is born of this event. 1791, February 4: Federal enabling act, pursuant to the Virginia Compact Kentucky is recognized as a State in the process of forming its government. 1792: April 19: Kentucky State Convention at Danville adopts the State's first Constitution; Article VIII gives effect to ratification of the U.S. Constitution. 1792: June 1: Kentucky becomes the fifteenth state to join the Federal Government. 1792: June 4: the General Assembly is first convened at Lexington, Kentucky; Isaac Shelby is soon inaugurated as the first governor. 1792: December 8: Frankfort legislated a new State capital, based on the Commission's December 5th approval.
