They met in the US embassy in the fortified Green Zone, where Mr Bush is expected to stay for about five hours on his first trip since November 2003. " Good to see you, " Mr Maliki said, who had had only five minutes notice. Mr Bush had been chairing talks in the US on future Iraq policy and had been due to speak to Mr Maliki via video. Correspondents say the trip comes amid a rare mood of optimism in the White House about events in Iraq.
