Dear Naadi Lover Friends, Thisa is for your information. Following is the write up on the website of the Maharashtra state Committee for blind faith eradication{CBFE} on Naadi Jyothisham. Is there anyone ready to accept the challenge thrown to verify the script on the Naadi palm leaf? REFER LAST SENTENCE. What is Nadi-jyotish? (24 Seconds=1 nadi) Astrology based on this measurement of time. Nadi means a duration of 24 seconds. In an hour there are 150 nadis and in a day of 24 hours there are 3600 nadis. In 24 hours the zodiac circle completes one revolution around the Earth. A circle has 360 degrees; each degree requires 4 minutes or 240 seconds to rise above the horizon. This means that 1/10th part of a degree needs a period of 24 seconds to rise above the horizon, which is the same as a nadi. Therefore it is possible to correlate each 1/10th part of a degree of the zodiac with one particular nadi. The birth of a baby in a particular nadi - slot can be connected to the zodiac circle in this way. If an astrologer somehow

prepares predictions for each nadi and writes the prediction for each nadi on a Tad leaf -patti, (palm leaf strips) then there will be 3600 such patties (strips or sheets). Theoretically speaking, these 3600 patties should suffice to tell the predictions of any baby born on any day and at any time. This is the theory of nadi - jyotish. The halo of mystery created around nadi-jyotish is due to extravagant claims made by its protagonists. These claims are like this: Some ancient Rishis (Seers) have written the predictions thousands of years ago on strips of Tad (palm) leaves. The number of these strips is infinite. They have written the predictions for each and every person in the world for all the times to come. The Rishis were able to know the names of all these persons, and have inscribed them on the strips They prepared the horoscopes of all persons and inscribed them on the strips. The contents of the strips are written in ancient Tamil script which can be read exclusively by specially trained persons. The absurdities of these statements are quite obvious. The horoscopes, which are supposed to be written on the strips, reveal that the strips cannot be older than about 1700 years. The Greeks introduced such horoscopes in India about 1700 years ago. Before that period the Rashis (Zodiac signs) were not known in India. They are an integral part of a horoscope. The omniscient sages had no need to prepare horoscopes for making their predictions since a common man cannot read the script. It is not possible to verify whether the names and horoscopes are actually written on the strips. Wing Commander Shashikant Oak. Pune, India.
